This restaurant definitely feels French, in keeping with the history of lovely Akaroa. The food was good but maybe not great. I would say the charm of the place makes up for it. Recommend.

We went to this restaurant in anticipation of a wonderful meal from what we had read on this review site and from experience from family members. What we found was a small, cramped restaurant with wait staff that were nice but clearly inexperienced and a menu with prices through the roof and food that could not be changed. My partner... More

Thank you olihazell21, for taking the time to review our little bistro. Its disappointing that you didnt actually stay to enjoy our fine fare, im not quite sure how you came to the conclusion that our food is overpriced considering you didn't dine. Our front of house team have been with us for over 18 months, what they lack in... More

This is a splendid restaurant and a great find in Akaroa. You do need to book as it gets very busy but the quality of the food and the service are of a standard that goes way beyond what you would expect in such a small town. Prices are not extravagant given the quality, and there is a good selection... More

Best lamb I've ever eaten!!! Tender and flavourful!!! :) The salmon was very fresh but honestly lacking a bit of flavour (perhaps compared to the exquisite lamb and potato terrine which made my tastebuds flip for joy) I would go back just for the lamb! I also really enjoyed the creme brulee, very creamy and beautifully presented. We had an... More

Tiny little restaurant with great service, food from the various regions in NZ. Recommend booking if you can because it is so small. Food was great, I had the seafood which was lovely and fresh. My husband had the lamb which was also yummy.

This restaurant was recommended to us and because of its size you have to book. Makes room for only 10 tables and really tight fit. Would be far more enjoyable with far less tables and more room for diners. Menu had changed and disappointed us. Felt too crammed in and didn't enjoy our dinner. Better options elsewhere in Akaroa.

Went here with friends for a meal. Very busy and very nice food. However the wine price was ridiculous. The same wine we have had for $60 in a very good restaurant in Timaru was $110 here. This gives you an idea of how expensive wine list is. Overall it is overpriced. More expensive than Botswana Butchery in Queenstown which... More

Hi Lynne, Thank you so much for taking the time to review our little bistro. Its always disappointing to read when a guest feels that we are overpriced. We feel that we offer fair value for money considering the produce we use. As we only have two wines on our list at $110 its quite easy to work out which... More

This is a restaurant with a strong chef, who knows what he wants to cook, and who has a strong individualistic temperament. The menu is centered on local ingredients, and he is keen to prepare more unusual dishes. So we had absolutely superb rose veal, gorgeous little neck clams in a creamy saffron sauce, a lovely twice baked blue cheese... More

Recommend by out hotel, this is a very small and intimate restaurant. Food was of excellent quality all locally sourced and very good quality . Service a little amateur but friendly. The top pick of Akaroa
