We had been looking forward to eating dinner here as it seemed to be one of the few establishments described as a "proper restaurant" in the town. The restaurant is small and tables are close to each other - no chance of a private conversation. The lighting is poor. I had to use the light on my mobile phone to... More

After checking our IDs twice to make sure we were old enough to be ordering one of their beautiful wines, we were surprised with a complimentary entrée. The service was great, and the food was something else. Best meal I've had in my 3 weeks traveling around NZ. If you're in Picton I would highly recommend having dinner here. Compliments... More

The building and setting is a bit quirky, as everything in Picton is. Once inside the seating is a bit cramped but the quality and informed nature of the staff (wine and food) and delicious menu offerings make up for the setting. Good value for money.

We wanted surf and turf and this was the only spot that offered it so we booked early and just as well, the place was full at 7pm on a Wed. Our meal took some time but we were happily enjoying the respite from travelling so we didn't really notice until the waiter (charming bloke) brought us a tasting plate.... More

A few thoughts about our dinner at Escape to Picton's Restaurant on March 1, 2017. The setting in the restaurant’s outdoor patio was elegant and very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and immediately attentive and responsive. I ordered the Fresh Fish of the Day, which was Grouper, served over a vegetable patty with a citrus beurre blanc sauce accompanied by... More

Great food and good service, absolutely wonderful! Had the fish and chips and it might be the best fish I have ever eaten. My partner had the mussels and really enjoyed them as well. Definitely recommend going here if you want some proper food and dining!

We ordered our food and a couple of glasses of wine one hour and a quarter later our food had not arrived, I was about to leave but was begged by the very nice waitress to wait, the food finally arrived and it was, I have to admit good, however by that time we had finished our wine and suggested... Ok i am sorry but we do not have a male who cooks in our kitchen. I am the chef and i am female and my sous chef is female. I have never come out of the kitchen to talk about free wine or any thing of a sort to any one. We do not sell frozen food as everything... More

Let's start with the opening, a very friendly waitress (she told us she was on training) welcomed us and took our orders. Even if she wasn't a professional waitress already, she was very keen and friendly (for the restaurant: black hair). We ordered two early bird menus and a bottle of wine. Well, since we've been cycling the whole day... More

Hello Sarah, Thank you for your review; as you certainly ate here on an early bird menu, which as you are aware you need to vacate your table by 7.30pm as it states clearly on the menu. You start by saying there was a friendly waitress. You state two friendly waitresses both of whom covered the floor outside. Then you... More
