We sat at the bar as the wait for a table was over and hour at 3:00! The bar tenders were super friendly and efficient (even when the guy sitting next to us ordered a Bud Light and the bartender politely explained that they don't carry Bud Light but gave him a sample of something he might like. I had... More

If you live by good brunches, look no further. This place will probably have you waiting for a little while, even though you have a reservation. But it's for good reason; they are the brunch in town, and it's quite the scene. I went with my mom and we wanted to order six different entrees, because it all looked so... More

If you're in the DC, I beg you to try Founding Farmers. We went for breakfast and everything was amazing. Don't let the prices deter you. The entrees are plentiful and worth every penny. I wish I could've put the restaurant in my pocket to bring back home with me! We sat at the bar and Tommy was an amazing... More

The food is thoughtfully sourced and there are plenty of delicious options for vegetarians as well as omnivores...even with reservations though, I've found there is a wait the last few times I've been here.

A good variety of classics such as chicken pot pie (which my husband enjoyed greatly), and pot roast, steak, fried chicken. I had shrimp and grits with andouille sausage which was very flavorful but actually did not have enough grits (you want some to soak up the delicious sauce). We started with a corn bread with sweet nubs of corn... More

We were a group of 8 with mixed tastes and dietary needs/wants. The menu fit our party exquisitely. From seafood to pork to meatloaf, this place offered it all!

This is the third time that we've been here and it's beyond amazing. The first time we came to D.C. we had a reservation here for dinner but decided to cancel it but were we wrong! The next day we went here for breakfast and the line was out the door so if that didn't speak volume for the place... More

Made reservations for 8am on a holiday weekend. We were seated rather quickly, with tables placed rather close to each other. We ordered the share plate of beignets, strawberry stuffed French toast, and bf got the founding farmers breakfast. Bf finished his coffee rather quickly, but no one came around to offer refills, and we could not find our waiter... More

Hi There, Thank you for taking the time to write and review our restaurant. While we’re thrilled you loved the food, I’m very sorry to read about the lacking service. Please know that incorrect deliveries and sporadic service are NOT hallmarks of our restaurant, although this clearly is not what you experienced. Anything less than attentive and knowledgeable service will... More

Had to wait about 15 minutes despite a reservation. The tables are packed in so you better like the people at the next table since they are in your lap. The service was excellent and food very good. Can't go wrong with chicken and waffles and the farmers salad was fresh and good. The ice cream was outstanding. Worth it... More

Delicious! A good variety of choices. My son and husband had the chicken and waffles. Sweet waffles and spicy chicken. I had the goat cheese and very hash. Was excellent. Make a reservation! We got there at 10am on Saturday and waited 45min for a table. By the time we were seated the wait time was over an hour. Worth... More

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
