Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On 5/23/24 we had the pleasure of dining at The Capital Grille, 601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. Our order of filet mignons were cooked perfectly; I had the sliced filet with wild mushrooms and Cipollini Onions in a Fig sauce. Our appetizer of fried calamari...was a very large serving. We saw no baked potatoes on the menu, and we noticed a lot of restaurants no longer serve them. DG, our server, replied that the restaurant generally keeps a small number available. When he returned with our drinks, DG told us that he had reserved a potato for us in case we ordered one. How thoughtful! And we did order one (it was really big). When I complimented the wine, DG returned later with the bottle so that I could take a picture of it. What a wonderful dinner, but much of the credit goes to DG for listening to us, and then acting upon what he heard. His serving our meal couldn’t have been more timely. DG is a genuine and considerate person. He is a definite asset to The Capital Grille, and a remarkable, personable young man.More

A Full Week in DC for First Time that didn't Involve Business. I had Made Reservations before Leaving Home for My Husband's Birthday Dinner. I really wanted a Special Place & WE GOT IT !! So after 3 Days of Walking & SightSeeing it was...Time for a Nice Place for Great Food. (DC & Capitol Grill have BOTH been on My Bucket List) It was Very Busy but NOT Chaotic because the Wait Staff had it Running Smoothly. We never felt ignored or rushed by Our Server NOE' R (hope i spelled correctly) We each Enjoyed Entree w/ 2 /4oz Filet Medallions Each Top w/ Poached Lobster Tails in a Delicious Garlic Butter Sauce. Now We've Traveled & Enjoyed many a Filets & Lobster Tails in Our Years. Many of course were very good but this DISH was Totally 5 Stars !!! The Flavor there to Enjoy but Not Overpower. Perfectly Cooked Medium was Our Filets & Lobster so Tender pure Joy to EAT !! My Husband Felt very Special with a Beautifully done B-Day Dessert Plate. If You have Not Tried Capitol Grill Your doing Yourself a Disservice.More

We visited shortly after our arrival in DC and after previously visiting the Capital Grille in Boston and Chicago maybe expected something a little more modern. However, the older steakhouse feel and busy atmosphere made it a welcome first stop of the trip and the...service was excellent and our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We shared crab cake to start with and presentation wasn’t the best although it tasted great and the steaks that followed were both excellent and cooked to perfection. As I am celebrating a birthday on this trip we received a complimentary dessert to share which whilst a very nice touch was good at best and our whole meal was accompanied by a nice bottle of wine from a large selection. A very good meal but just a little short of being great.More

Coming from the European continent (Belgium) we have that day in December 2023, under a pouring rain (we are used to these conditions here), visited the Space Museum as well as The Capitol and I had earmarked this place to have dinner (or was it...lunch) in the afternoon before joining a Wizards game. We got in (me, spouse, son) very wet, but were welcomed warmly. It was an experience I will not forget. I will not add further comments, if I have the opportunity to get back to DC I know where my first meal will be served. Fantastic place.More

The Capital Grille is extremely fancy, but don't be intimidated. They accept all and are sweet to all who pop in. We popped in out of the rain dressed in everyday wear and enjoyed a wonderful lunch of steak and salad. I believe they are...known for their steak, and they did not disappoint. Everything was on point.More

Having lunch here crowned a great vacation in DC. The place is unique and has a fantastic and unique environment. While the menu is not extensive, the variety is good and has excellent options. Quality of the meat is top notch. Service was super attentive...and engaging. Wine list is big and with amazing options.More

During a busy day of touring the Capital, we made reservations, wanting to know we would have a restful stop. What a lovely location. Our meals were amazing: Cobb salad with tenderloin and Salmon with Mediterranean couscous. Our server, Manuel P. added the perfect blend...of warmth and professionalism. A tie highlight of our day! Thank you!More

Capital Grille is an amazing dining experience. The ambiance takes you back into time when restaurants really went out of their way to make their diners happy. The best part of our experience was our waiter Jared Johnson. He was friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and so...knowledgeable about the menu. Everything he recommended was great —wine, appetizer, entree, and dessert were an absolute delight. Try the lobster bisque with REAL lobster throughout and the creamy, flakey sea bass with sautéed mushrooms! Yum!More

We are regular visitors to Capitol Grille, at various locations. This was a lunch in downtown DC before going to a museum with grown children. The lobster salad was awful and definitely not worth $38. In the past, it was a delicious mixture with bib...lettuce. This time is a a generous portion on top of a bunch of stringy arugula lettuce without dressing—just stringy dry lettuce—on top of avacado. It was dry and awful. A salad at this level of restaurant should be an amazing combination of ingredients and dressing. Years ago at Cap Grille they had an amazing mixed salad with lobster. But this was none of that. It was dry, stringy, and uninteresting. We were very disappointedMore

We ran into the Capitol Grille by chance and were happy we did. We came for a small lunch and enjoyed that thoroughly. We were lucky to get two seats ... next time we will make sure to reserve. Their clam-chowder is excellent and so...was the wine and the rest of the food. Service was outstanding.More

We came here as a small group for a surprise birthday party for my son… We stopped at the bar before being sat at our table. The bartender and experience was decent. They have a nice cocktail menu and a huge wine list, with some...decent by-the-glass offerings. Once sat at the table (which they jazzed up with sparkles, but no bday card, like we’ve experienced at the Tysons location when going for special events in the past), our server was great… very friendly and attentive, as well as outgoing and accommodating. We started with the Nueske’s Cherrywood Smoked Bacon with Korean BBQ and their Tuna Tartare with Avocado, Mango and Sriracha and bother were fresh and tasty… the bacon is highly recommended!! Next course was some salad, two of us split the Wedge with Bleu Cheese and Smoked Bacon, which was fresh and tasty. Love the smokey flavors of bleu cheese with bacon! For dinner, they were offering an American Wagyu strip, as well as an 8ox lobster tail, so we had to get both of those. We also got their Kona-Crusted Dry Aged Bone-In NY Strip with Shallot Butter and their Dry Aged NY Strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream and the temps of our steaks were all spot on! The flavors were great and that Wagyu was OUTSTANDING! Dessert was excellent as they made a huge platter of incredible sweets for the table. Overall, it was another really nice experience… Highly recommend stopping in for a nice steakhouse diner!More

We have an excellent lunch. My daughter and I had the mini tenderloin sandwiches with fries. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection. My wife had roasted chicken and hers was prepared perfectly too. I also added the lobster bisque. It had small pieces of lobster...and was the best bisque that I have ever had. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I would not hesitate to come back here the next time we are in DC.More

Visiting from United Kingdom and had booked in advance based on reviews. We were certainly not disappointed. On arrival were greeted warmly and they had decorated table as it was my birthday. The host explained the specialties and advised on wine selection. The food was excellent...and they did half portions on the sides as explained they were large portions. Presented me with special celebration dessert. Also the weather was atrocious so we requested a taxi. The host escorted us out to the taxi to ensure we found it. Would highly recommend.More
