Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The service and food here were amazing. Went for a special anniversary dinner with my husband and it did not disappoint. Our server was friendly, informative and quick. We had the raw oysters, pork chop and scallop dinners. Everything was outstanding and delicious, a little...pricey but worth it. Highly recommend this restaurant.More

The food was absolutely amazing. I had the Parmesan Trout, which was incredible. My mom had the Bone-in pork chop and it was seasoned very well. We had the Rockefeller Oysters and they were delicious. The dessert was also amazing.

Excellent meal! Excellent service! Hope to go again! It was a great meal. I had scallops, which were some of the best I have ever had. Others in my group had lamb. Our plates were all clean. Jack was an excellent server! My only wish...is that we had made a reservation ahead of time. It was a beautiful day to be in DC, so our wait was over 30 minutes. But we walked around so a pleasant wait. Oh and dessert was excellent too! Save some room if you can! Please treat yourself to this treat while in DC!More

We had a wonderful experience last evening at the Old Ebbitt Grill, with truly delicious food and excellent service. Saiming, our server, was on top of things all throughout our meal. She was personable, made recommendations and was available whenever we needed something. One of...the best parts of the Old Ebbitt Grill is the atmosphere and the beauty of the restaurant, including the 4 large bars. We can’t recommend enough that if you are in D.C., stop in. For sure! It’s well worth it.More

Every time we go to DC, we eat here at least once. Thankfully I made a reservation a few weeks before our trip because this place is jam packed on Saturday. We squeezed our way in and the hostess seated us quickly. I think the...wait was around an hour without a reservation. I've always enjoyed the meals I order at Old Ebbitt Grill and this time was no exception. Everything was delicious. My family loves their raw oysters. This place is close to the White House in a very busy part of DC. Old Ebbitt hasn't disappointed us yet. It's always delicious and it's a must do when we're in DC!More

This is a famous and fantastic restaurant. The food was excellent. The staff was incredibly friendly and made great recommendations on what to eat. The shrimp and the scallops were both excellent.

Excellent service, meal, and atmosphere. The restaurant is a bit loud. Crabcakes, oysters, and scallops were delicious. Staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and asked about food allergies.

A perfect place for breakfast after an early morning White House tour. The pancakes are fantastic - golden, fluffy and buttery, with real maple syrup. Pair with a mimosa and you’re in heaven.

Simply a classic! The location is ideal literally right across from the White House. So after a day of sightseeing on the mall ond logging a few miles checking out the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom we skeedaddled over to the Old Ebbitt Grill. We...secured a spot at the back bar and enjoyed some refreshing libations and a delicious meal all while taking in the wonderful ambience of a Friday night in our nations Capitol.More

Beautiful restaurant with exceptional crab cakes! My husband had a very traditional breakfast and enjoyed it. My crab cakes were very good. Additionally, my grandson initially wanted Mac and cheese but ended up not liking it (more of an adult Mac and cheese but good)...so the waiter exchanged his meal at no charge. He did enjoy his pasta with marinara. *The restrooms are down a flight of stairs and the dining and bar areas are both up 2 steps. If you have mobility issues, consider contacting them before you go to see if there are options I didn’t see. I glanced around and didn’t see an elevator.More

This is a must visit bar if you are in Washington. It is tastefully preserved and offers a great selection of food and drink in a relaxed atmosphere. On our visit we were perfectly looked after by a charming and attentive barman called Christopher as...we sat and drank and dined at the bar. My wife enjoyed two perfect cocktails , the Trouble in Paradise, which she described as very strong but smooth and the sparkling Strawberry Fields. I had a couple of the Loose Cannon Heavy Seas beer which was perfectly kept and poured. To eat the New England Clam Chowder and Clyde's Chilli bowl were excellent. The whole bill came to just under $75 but worth it for the quality, service and ambience.More

Outstanding service and delicious meal. Friendly staff and was impressed with all aspects of this restaurant. It is extremely popular and reservations are recommended but you can sometimes find a seat at one of the bars as we did!
