a perfect meal in a very pleasant dining room: great soup and salad, excellent seared trout with beets and pomegranate sauce, shrimp and grits with andouille was superb.

For decades I stayed at the Tabard Inn when visiting DC but this time I stayed at the Dupont Circle Hotel and ate lunch and dinner at the Tabard Inn Restaurant for old times sake. Well I won't be going back. Staff are mostly (not everyone) surly and inattentive and the tables for two are in unappealing locations. The oysters... More

The food is good, the wine list is very good and the crowd is eclectic. When you go, try to plan to have drinks in the lounge area with sofas and card tables before or after dinner. Take your time here and enjoy the old world charm.

The Tabard Inn is an institution in Washington and I hope it stays that way for another 50 years. Was there when there was an excellent jazz vocalist/guitar duo in the lounge with a bluegrass group out on the patio - what fun!! Aside from a full service bar with tasty libations and mixes to order, the oysters were fresh... More

I normally love this restaurant so we booked for thanksgiving dinner. They only offered a fixed menu that was crazy expensive and reheated food. Service was aggressive or distracted---seemed rushed until we needed any small thing (sugar for coffee). Big disappointment. We will go back sometime for regular menu, but never again for a holiday.

Tabard Inn Restaurant is very old style in the very best sense. It's lively ambiance, and wooden paneled walls and ceilings make for a unique Washington experience. We only had drinks here, but the friendly and attentive service made us want to come back, and perhaps stay at the Inn.

We went here to celebrate a birthday and we had a wonderful time. We had the bacon wrapped dates, the house made hummus and pita, the stuffed quail, and the sweet potato gnocchi- all fantastic, and the bacon wrapped dates in particular were really incredible. We enjoyed the seasonal drinks as well, especially the spiced cider! The atmosphere was very... More

Excellent restaurant, fairly reasonable and close to the hotel. Highly recommend trying this out next time you are in DC.

Whether for brunch on a lazy weekend or dinner, whether for business meeting, romantic dinner or just meeting up with friends, the restaurant is excellent. The quality of the food is superior, and the wine list has a wide range of options. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and the service is attentive and friendly. Has an outside area which is... A wonderful service by Tin from Vietnam, impeccable actually. The food was good, but far over priced for what we received $80 USD for a small salad, a turkey dish with some condiments and a pecan-pie or a $70 USD profit margin or a good night to rob your customers respecting that very good restaurant.
