We had reservations for three at noon on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived. The hostess seated us right away and we were waited on promptly. Since they make their guacamole fresh we shared an order which we all agreed...More

Really enjoyed our evening meal here. Guacamole was to die for, with excellent tomato salsa. Good atmosphere and service - good atmosphere suiting families as well as those looking for a fun night out in a vibrant area of Washington. We had the 3 enchiladas...More

Excellent Mexican food, although not necessarily authentic. Nice ambience with great service. The fish was perfect.

First off make sure you make reservations as the place was PACKED with a concert going on across the street. They did a good job though moving tables and we enjoyed some time at the bar during happy hour. The guacamole was excellent and so...More

Good location in Penn Quarter, nice ambiance, excellent guacamole made at the table. My husband and I both had mole chicken enchiladas which we didn't think were very good, particularly at the price.

From beginning to end, this restaurant is excellent! We started with margaritas and sangria - both were exceptional. Then the fresh guacamole made table side along with fresh salsa and chips - excellent! For dinner we had enchiladas and quesadillas and they too were delicious....More

I like it when they make the guacamole by the table and don’t chicken out on spicy! Set the mood - good tasty meal but on the other hand not a stand out - more a safe bet.

So good. And the spicy cucumber margarita!! Try it! Everyone liked their food. We went with 5 adults a teen, a tween and a 9 year old. All plates were empty.

I was surprised the food is really good. I've had a hard time trying to find good Mexican food. The plus in this place are the desserts. This is the first Mexican restaurant that I see "Tres Leches cake" in its menu. That's my favorite...More

I took a friend out here for his birthday lunch and the food was so delicious! Everything was beautifully presented. I had the trio enchiladas which came with three different enchiladas- beef chicken and cheese. The enchiladas each had their own different sauce-mole, cilantro sauce,...More

Yes, it is great for kids but if you can I would eat outside. The tacos are little spicy so be aware what you order for them. Other than that, that atmosphere is great and casual!

Description
Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
