Arucola is a small, friendly neighborhood place with good food, pleasant atmosphere and very reasonable prices. We tried it because we wanted lunch before a show at the Avalon Movie Theatre, less than a block away. The minestrone soup was exactly right, just a little thick and loaded with large cut vegetables, especially delicious with the house focaccia. My husband... More

A wonderful treat for dinner. My friends, who live in the neighborhood of the restaurant surprised me to a wonderful dinner, great service, and a cozy table on the second level of Arucola. The pasta was wonderful. Though we were not hungry after completing the great dinner portions, we made the "mistake" of looking at the dessert menu. As we... More

My husband and I live around the corner from this restaurant and were excited to try it out after we moved in. The food is okay, the service was okay, but for the price, we just weren't impressed. We had one of those experiences where the table next to us got lots of attention, but we got almost none. Not... More

Arucola is a great place to visit on a cold winter night. We prefer to sit in the back, near the pizza oven and enjoy the heat and aroma of cooking. The pizza is excellent, in our opinion the best in the city, inexpensive, thin crusted with an excellent tomato sauce and spices. There is plenty of opportunity to add... More

We frequently go to Arucola for a pre movie dinner. The other evening there were 6 of us for a meal, and we also ordered farily expensive wine. I casually asked the waiter if (as we were winding up our drinks), we might have some biscotti. Since we had just paid our bill, he came with exactly 7 small biscuits... More

Visited with my brother in law who lives in Chevy Chase over the weekend. We dined early at Arucola as we had plans for the evening. Enjoyed a happy hour drink which was nice and and very reasonably price. I had the pasta and he had mussels. They were both very good although the mussels were very small. Overall we... More

We haven't been here in maybe a year. Big mistake. Dropped by for a late lunch and found everything to be really good. So good we came again the next day for supper with family member visiting from out of town. Even better. Tilapia for husband and trout for visitor and me. Large portions. Generous portions of salad for them... More

My wife and I had dinner here. We have dined before. We shared the grilled octopus appetizer. I would not order it again. The flavor was not bad, but it must have been overcooked. It was like chewing rubber bands. My wife had a special seafood lasagna for her main course. It was good; not spectacular. I had a grilled... More

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in DC, with professional waiters and great food. The food is still pretty good, but the service continues to deteriorate. I gave this place 5 stars at one point and then 4. The service at our last visit was so noticeably bad that it's down to 3 stars. I have to... More

Wonderful, cozy family-owned restaurant with an excellent range of authentic regional cuisine, good wine list and delicious salads, fresh fish, excellent bread and amazing home made desserts. A real gem and neighborhood treasure.
