I had enjoyed the Museum of the American Indian several times before but hadn't ventured into its restaurant, and this past visit, I'm SO glad we did! An incredible variety of authentic Native American dishes await, featuring fresh veggies, fish and meat. Many vegetarian options available, refreshing fruit beverages and deserts for any sweet tooth! Foods are labeled with what... More

We had lunch here after visiting the museum. The food was some of the best we've had in the Smithsonian. I liked how the menu is based on native cuisine. I had bison chilli that was great and not too spicy. My husband had a bison burger that he liked. Our son had so,egging similar to a taco that he... More

I read about this cafe in a few D.C. guides and since lunch options are limited on the mall it is definitely worth a stop. We had the bison chili fry bread taco and a bison brisket sandwich as well as a dessert fry bread. All was super delicious. Not he cheapest but also not that expensive, about $36 for... More

Turkey and rice burger with fries was quite good, but over $18.00. Was told it would be ready in 12 minutes, but waited over 20 minutes. Great Plains taco very tasty as well.

After having read so much about all the different roots, meats, spices, fruit, and vegetables used by Native Americans... to eat tacos, fried dough, fried chicken strips, and bison burgers? Yes, there was also meat and fish, but it was very pricy. I found it pricy. I expected more diversity and flavor. Sorry.

This is the cafeteria in the Native American Museum near the capital. Atmosphere-wise, it's a museum cafeteria. Food wise? Wow! It's great! There are regional specialties from all parts of the country. Personally, I can recommend the "Indian Taco", which was bison chili over puffed, fried flatbread. Delicious. (My mouth is still watering as I think about it). But as... More

When in the area, this is a great place to eat. We walked over from the Air and Space Museum, as the food there was horrible. In the Mitsitam, there are many nutritious and delicious options to choose from. The prices are high, as they seem to be everywhere in DC and certainly are in museaum cafes everywhere, but at... An interesting variety you may not be used to. Safe way to be adventurous and healthy. Refreshing. Current set up by region, but I understand that there may be some changes coming to include some comfort options like fry bread!
