We both had the country fried steak which was way too much after an excellent salad and sunflower seed bread. The food was hot and the gravy over the steak was excellent a good place to eat if you are really really hungry.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Alamosa but this place has gone down hill. You do get a good value for your money for the quatity of food you get. Steaks are decent. Good bar.

Have eaten steaks across this country and True Grit has the best steaks I have ever eaten any where. I have eaten here several times and will make a point to dine here every time I am in Alamosa.

My husband was craving a steak, so we decided to give True Grits a try. I immediately noticed that the waitstaff seemed rushed, overwhelmed and had very little time to give to the customers. Concerning considering we were there at 4p, not even prime dinner time. Our waitress went out of her way to tell EVERY table she had that... More

We arrived early for Saturday evening dinner and despite 3 servers working we were always waiting. The server seemed overwhelmed and briefly took our drink order. Drinks were served on the fly with placing on the table and we waited for her to come back to take the dinner order. We had very little interaction throughout the dinner with the... More

I ordered a "petite" prime rib cut, my husband had a sirloin. Both cuts were huge, beautifully spiced and tender enough to cut with a fork if you wanted to. Baked potatoes were excellent, moist and tasty. The owner has her meats for the restaurant cut from purchased whole cattle, cut to her specifications and she does the seasoning/marinading. Bravo,... Nice quiet John Wayne-themed restaurant with great steaks. Sides of french fries (delicious) and mashed potatoes.Starter was minestrone (home made). A great meal. And gentlemen, please visit the restroom to use the John Wayne-sized urinal!

We were staying across the road at one of the hotels. And it was an easy walk over. I really enjoyed my meal. My steak was juicy. And my daughters burger was large and filling.

Good local restaurant. Salad and rolls were good as well as the service. My steak was disappointing.
