Cool place. Enjoyed the Ruben and Bon Mi sandwiches. The pinto chiliequiles was fantastic (has cheese, no vegan cheese option).

Had lunch here. Sat at the bar. The owner was working behind the bar. She was so pleasant and helpful. Lots of vegan options. Had the vegan BLT. It was amazing and huge. Could not finish it. Everything was top quality.

We met another couple for a birthday dinner. The menu is simple, and there are a number of daily specials. You are in luck if you really like tofu. Otherwise, it is good to enjoy salad. We also ordered a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. There was little taste to the cheese. The restaurant was busy with people waiting for... More

Very good little local restaurant. We always manage to have a couple meals at The Grit when we visit Athens.

The Grit set Athens on the 'foodie' map before 'foodie' was a thing. Its first incarnation was in a caboose back in the hey day of the 1980's and it, and they, have maintained that attitude...the Grit in its present form has long been Iconic! keep on rocking!

We had a bit of a wait to get a table for brunch on a saturday morning, as the place is pretty popular. There were a lot of things on the menu that I considered trying, though I generally am not a fan of vegetarian food. It ended up being really good, but I made the mistake of ordering "soysauge"... We try to eat here whenever we visit family. This is the place to eat dessert first as they have the best cakes and pies! The loaded nachos with their black bean chili is fabulous as well!

Strictly vegetarian restaurant, and all the dishes would improve for me with a piece of salmon on top....but good for a change of pace. Reasonable prices and a fun waitstaff. You can always have a steak later.

Their cheesy grits and pancakes are excellent! Be prepared for food so good, you won't even notice that there's no meat on the menus. Desserts are homemade, and food is fresh. Staff can be a little aloof....they're typically "too cool" hipsters.

Thank Caroline E
