This little street behind The central square, serves the best lump in the area. In the attached photo i have the address in Arabic, because i had some hard time to find it when asking locals. Choose the piece of meat that you like and...More

Wander off the Djemaa el-Fna and down this little alleyway and you'll find sight and smells that may (or not) delight the senses. There are lots of little stalls selling "mechoui" (slow roasted lamb) or "tangia" (slow cooked lamb in a clay pot). We settled...More

This alley is just behind the square and the advice we got that the best time to go was lunch time which we did. This is basic authentic eating at its best. First up was the mechoui lamb. This is cooked whole in a fire...More

It's nice to come here to get some lovely mechoui lamb. It is a bit random, and full of people, and the different places to eat are all similarly a bit grubby. Definitely eat with your hands and the bread and don't ask for cutlery

If you are a meat eater and don't mind eating with your hands, this is the place to come to. We shared 1/2 kg of the most succulent tender lamb, served with a bread and a cumin salt. Finger licking good! Locals eat here and...More

What an authentic experience! I loved it! We ate with our fingers communally for the first time. It was lovely -- you know you've arrived when a stranger invites you to sit and dine with them. Interesting and fun -- not for the faint of...More

If you are worried about trying street food, avoid this place. The meat is sitting on the counter and there is not much hygiene or refrigeration. If you are a bit more adventurous, then go for it. We ate there for lunch pretty much every...More

Just incredible. We found it the day we were leaving, still in time for lunch. We wanted to taste something really special in Morocco, and we got to the perfect place. No cutlery, of course. The price was good: there were five of us and...More

I had read about Mechoui lamb at the time of booking our trip to Marrakesh (and since seen it featured in a programme by a TV chef), as a lover of lamb I knew I had to try it. Mechoui alley itself is a short...More

I never had breakfast there but i think you are correct, they open for lunch and close after dinner. Anyway, if you visit Marrakech, Mechoui Alley is a must!!! Enjoy :-)

Description
Top Choice in Lonely Planet for the medina in MarrakechThere are several restaurants that serve slices/pieces of roasted lamb. I went at lunchtime and ordered 1/4 kilo plus bread, olives and a bottle of water for a total of 50 Dh. All the mechoui places have the meat and cooking out in front; I chose the one with the blue tile interior where I sat and ate my meal. Nothing fancy but really delicious! All the other diners were locals which is a good sign in my opinion.
