This is the original restaurant where it started. It's a busy place. We went on a weekday, and had to queue to wait for a table (30mins). They are very well organized though, and had waitresses who speak various Asian languages. The place is a bit tight, but food came very fast and was as I remembered it from 20... More

If you like Xiao Lun Bao, this is a definitely must try place or a start before hitting the street market and such. I like the atmosphere and staff there, very quick for serving food... And I would only say for 1 drawback is - CASH only; therefore, make sure you bring enough cash when you have a feast!

Came here in a party of 3 for a business dinner. They don't take reservations so you'll have to come in, take a ticket and wait to be called. Waiting times very from 10-40 mins, but most of the time you end waiting no more than 15-20mins. You can have wander around the shops while you wait- you can track... More

We were told that this is where Din Tai Fung started and that it is far far better than any of the branches in Singapore. We were told to expect a half to 1 hour wait and so were mentally prepared. Having got our queque number we whiled away the time by window shopping and popping into a dessert cafe.... More

We came here about 10:45 AM and there was already a long line of people waiting to be seated. We got our number and menu with the order sheet and was called to the counter about half an hour after. The lady confirmed what we wrote on our order and told us to go the 3rd floor where someone will... More

1. Most painful is the waiting time outside of restaurant and no place to sit. Average waiting 1 hour minimum. It really test if you are so decisive to try this restaurant. 2. Food taste good since day one. In this restaurant you are sure that you will always have the best ingredients.

Din Tai Fung is the infamous soup dumpling restaurant in Taiwan. I love soup dumplings and always feel that you should always visit the original location vs the many branch stores in 101, Zhongxiao, Tianmu, etc etc. Soup dumplings (Shao lung bao) are magical steamed soup dumplings. They make the dumplings in many different fillings, my favorites are the original... More

Like most restaurant chains, the need for consistency is catching up. The full flavours of a couple of years ago seem to have faded somewhat. Still good but perhaps quality has slipped in the quest for a consistency across the chain.

Din Tai Fung isn't just great because of their great food. The service, attitude, and decor of the restaurant shine as one of the best in Taiwan with high professionalism. If the Michelin Stars are in Taiwan, this one deserves it. A tip from a local: Make sure you order the fried rice, consistently voted the top 3 fried rice... More
