I love sitting on this verandah, in the heat of the night, watching all the boats passing by. The food is absolutely incredible and the atmosphere so romantic.

We found the lunch menu to be limited and the food surprisingly simple. Service was uninterested in our table, perhaps because we were staying at the Peninsula.

This is a place we love to go for a weekend lunch by the river. Service as good as you can expect, great menu and perfect ambiance by the Chao Phraya river. Well worth a visit!

My wife and I had a casual dinner here last night. For the record we have stayed at this high end hotel in the past so we have the benefit of some history. The service last night started poor, but got better as the evening progressed. We were seated by the desk host at a dirty table with no settings.... More

The Verandah offers a mix of western, asian and Thai foods. The Thai foods were superb and the menu indicates which dishes are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. The restaurant modified a dish for me to make it vegan, including preparing a batch of vegan sauce.

It always feels like being home while entering the Oriental hotel where we had dinner on the terrace. It feels like participating in a fairy tale while you dine under a canopy of little lights and overlook the magic Chao Praya river. The food was good and service was okay, not overfriendly. Next time we will also stay at the... More

My first lunch in Bangkok with my friend, at the Oriental. We took a bottle of Rose with Pad Thai, it was amazing. Really good experience with beautiful view in the Choa Praya.

I would just like to point out how disappointed we were with the service last night. It most certainly was not your usual standard. The young waitress who served us, well let's just say, she clearly did not feel like working or/and didn't like the job. That really isn't our fault though is it ? I appreciate people have bad... Perfect setting by the river. Excellent service. Wide ranging Western and Thai menu. Food was good but not outstanding. However, a great evening in a fantastic atmosphere at a wonderful hotel.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
