So many places in Thailand present themselves as international/western standard, but even if the food is good, they get many of the details wrong. The classic is bringing starters out at the same time as the main course, or half way through it. Or serving wine in the wrong glasses, or providing inappropriate cutlery. Or generally substandard waiting service (getting... More

We went to No Idea based on a recommendation from a local who is a real foodie and loves his steaks in particular! Nice entrees, great burger and an even better steak.. Nice wine list with plenty of Aussie and NZ wines at fair prices for Bangkok. Obviously frequented by lots of expats this is a real find. Highly recommend,

I have been coming to Bangkok for 20 years. When I'm here it is usually for four weeks or longer. I ead a lot of the local Thai food here. However, I crave some Western food now and then, especially a hamburger. Through the years each time I sampled a hamburger I was left somewhat unsatisfied. I saw this restaurant... More

I haven't eaten here, but the menu looks very impressive, and the food looks beautifully presented. Prices are what you'd pay in Europe, but the quality is top notch. The draft Tiger beer is why I come here, it's sweet and reasonably priced at 100 baht a pint. Free WiFi and attentive staff adds to the package.

I was taken to No Idea by a long-time resident of Bangkok, who loves both his food and wine, not surprisingly his choice for lunch did not disappoint. No Idea is a place frequented by expats and travellers in the know and not likely to be found on the tourist maps. The interior could be described as discreet or private... More

They have a good collection of cheese and wine. The owner personally came and asked for our cheese preference and selected some good cheese for us. Reasonably priced.

We visited based on a recommendation from a guy staying in our hotel and are so glad we did. The food is really high quality and very varied and there is a superb wine list, as well as a very good range of beers. I started with the Stilton and pear salad, which was divine. My husband had a steak... More

I was here on business with one of my business colleague and found this place to be an excellent place to be in for hang out. Their food is excellent especially mussel's and sardines. Service is good as well. I will visit his place again only for its mussels. On price I have no idea as my friend pick up... More

I was taken to No Idea for dinner by an Australian couple who have lived in Bangkok for a number of years. When I walked in I was immediately impressed by the decor and layout of this restaurant/bar. It's beautiful. The staff who greeted us were extremely professional while still being friendly, approachable and unintrusive. We dined outside which was... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
