Definitely not worth of the wait. The hostess was extremely rude. She purposely waited and then told these two tourists that they couldn’t get seated after 4 hours they waited because their cousin put their name down. Meanwhile, there is a fat lady who is...there each morning getting the numbers for rich tourists and sells them the seats. And that’s ok. WT*. Very rude establishments doesn’t matter how good your food is. We left after waited 5 hours and saw how they treated others.More

Crab omelette is nice with generous huge chunks of crab. But it is not worth the hours of wait. I wouldn’t have waited for more than an hour standing for a table.

Their customer service is very poor. You have to stand and wait for long hours to have your meal. Yes its famous bcoz of the Michelin recommendation, but the food is nit really that wow, yes its good but to wait for 7hrs its not...worth it, especially their customer service is very bad, they are rude and they don’t care if you missed your number. If you missed your reservation number even you waited for longer hours, then no more chance or you will wait again with the number that they will give you that will take another hours again😔 They have to consider things like their weather, its too hot to wait for your turn for longer hours waiting next to the people who are eating. Its just sad that within our visit in Thailand most of the people we met are very accommodating and respectful except on this restaurant.More

awdul staff, so rude, system didnt make sense, they were giving out numbers and writing on a whiteboard then i asked her how long she said half an hour then we came back in 15 mins and missed our number, when we asked she said...you can be number 113, then when she called she said this isnt our number we needed to write it down, they were so rude and not friendly/welcoming! when greeted they said ‘what do you want?’ in a rude tone. I think fame has gone to their heads. The price is ridiculous for Bangkok too. Dont waste your time queuing!!! Just terribleMore

Never got chance to try the food. The staff were extremely rude and the queuing system is ridiculous. We missed our number because we didn’t hear the lady call it out as she was speaking so quietly. She then gave us another number. When this...number was called out she said this was not our number as we needed to write it down ourselves even though she did not tell us this. Wasted 2 hours here. The whiteboard is useless. If you’re here on a short trip do not waste your time here. Such a shame. We were so excited and we are gutted we didn’t get the chance to try the food.More

The hype is all correct. It is so good. I guess this is one place that you either love it (when you can get a table) or hate it (when you can’t). I agree that the queuing system is not to everyone’s taste. But then...again, spare a thought for Jay Fai as she is the only one doing the cooking. And she can only handle so many orders in an hour. It is impossible to please everyone. I once waited from noon to 5 pm and did not get a table. I vowed then never to go again. Somehow, 7 years later. I tried again. Got in touch with a queuing service. And finally got my table at dinner time. And wow oh wow. Totally worth it. Everything is good except for the tomyam soup (which came too salty). The rest of the dishes are just marvellous. Fresh and chunky prawns and crabs. Expensive. But good value for money. I now understand the place. And I don’t find the daughter rude. In fact, I find her personable. When I complimented her, she beamed a smile so wide that I believe she genuinely appreciates the compliment. So well done. This is one place that is an enigma. I love it.More

Super well worth the wait! I read some haters about this and that. Here you have the truth. One of the last places in the world were you get cooked by the chef herself. Excellent crab Omelet and drunken noodles. Highly recommended and when get...back to Bankok will be on my number one things to do list. Service was really nice. Yes the wait is long, but in other parts of the world you have to wait monts to get a table. Most bad reviews are made by people with no travel or good restaurant experience. Hoo! And price is really low considering it is a Michelin star restaurant.More

So this is how it goes. Reached there at 11.45am. You need to enter your name on a sheet that is there and note the number next to your name. Ours was 68. On a board they display who had already been seated... in this...case it was 23. With a few minutes they started calling numbers beyond 23. Who was present was given a menu, those missing were removed from the list. They managed to reach number 50 which was very promising. However this does not mean you get to sit in the restaurant. From here onwards, gradually you are called to a table which takes anything between 15 to 45 minutes. Once your are called to a table you Await your food which can be again upto 45 minutes. Somewhere in between all this the new numbers were called, this time from 50 to 55. A bit later again from 56 to 67... so close to our 68. Eventually 2 hours 45min later we got called to our table. 15 Min later was good. And 3.5 how hours later we were out. If we had been told that it would be 3 hours, we would have walked away. Instead as it was in stages, there was always anticipation that we were next.... it's our chance soon.... and so forth. In addition, there is a restaurant next door that had chairs outside allowing us to order drinks while we waited The food...... outstanding. The crab omelette was like gold. Soft fluffy and really full of crab. Given the hype we were worried that it may not match up to our expectations..... how wrong we were. It was divine I know alot of reviews are about the service being rude and so on.... the reality is the jay fai cooked nonstop those 3 hours in the heat without a break while the staff ran the place super efficiently. The had no time to chit chat and explain to customers the waiting time etc given that it was all displayed there. I don't blame them Go with am expectation to wait but remember the nirvana at the endMore

I went to Jay Fai today and ordered crab omelette and drunken noodles along with a beer. Should have been just over 2000 Baht. I also paid for a lady’s order. She had a single dish with a beer. Checking the prices online her’s was...700 Baht and beer which should have come to 850 Baht. The most I should have paid was 3000 baht!! The bill came to 3750 baht!!! I only noticed this after I left the red and went back to my hotel. I’m quite miffed about this and it is the only review I want to leave. PLEASE check your bills!!More

For me, trying the food here was not as difficult as I thought. I met a kind older sister who helped me make a reservation. He helped me until I sat down to eat. Even though he is not very good at the language, he...tried to make me as comfortable as possible when tasting the food at this restaurant. And I was impressed by the service and impressed. The food of this restaurant is very good. Try asking for services from her. What's app+6613076344More

I think enough has been said about the food itself from over (or under) whelming reviews. While most of us would criticise about the long wait or the service attitude, going to Jay Fai, now considered to be an institutional fame, is more than the...food (crab omelette in particular) itself. One must understand the history, why she and her restaurant got so much publicity is also a large part of the reason why people go. The "meal" actually starts when you step out of the taxi (for most of us) and start to wait for signing on the waitlist sheet. I personally waited for around 4 hours as I arrived at a bit before 8am. I just missed the first round of entry at 9am so I had to wait till the first table leaves and then the numbers will be called in sequence. It also depends on how many people that group may have, so, one number may have 6 people, then the wait will even be longer... After this experience, my observation is: I may not have to go so early as 7ish/8am. I would say, if I had gone later in the day, before 3 pm, I might not have to wait as long. Most of the customers arrive between 8-9:30am and during the late morning, only an odd few arrives, which is often put off by the long queue and then left. Of course, that could be affected by other factors as well. In summary, if you are going there just for the crab omelette as a regular meal, there may be better alternatives. This is probably a restaurant where you would appreciate more if you support Jay Fai's effort and dedication to cook every dish herself and when you see all the prep work being done from 8am onwards. I admit recently she has become more commercially active than before but I still respect that there is only one Jay Fai (no extensions/branches or expansions) and that she is the only cook there.More

Luckily only waited 15 minutes for a table(it is thai street food so having a table is a luxury),ordered the crab omelet for my wife and I had tomyum shimp and a beer.beer arrived very quickly and the food about 15 minutes later. It was...nice to see the person that has worked so hard for her reputation actually cooking our food,as I'm sure not very many michalin star restaurants can do the same if any apart from this one.we did really liked the food, this is not your average thai street food.as for the price pop to another bangkok restaurant and save a few hundred bhat and be disappointed. The food was twice as expensive as some other places but the food was three times as goodMore

I havent tried their food. I've been there almost every day in the morning, and afternoon, you will never get a sit. Said have to make a reservation by the rude staff and when I asked how? do we call? can we make a reservation...now since I'm here. She hesitated and said you need to make a reservation ONE year ahead. THEN, she asked me to come back tomorrow 9am. Every day I go, every day she says 9am. The whole reservation set up is horrible. I guess when you're not a celebrity, you will never get a shot even for 1 person eating. And guess what? i will never go again, however, they say how good the food was, Michelin star whatever. Sorry but this place is not pleasant in anyway.More

The daughter is very rude and got no basic manners. Food is so so but over priced. Human treated like animals to wait under sun , treated rudely and overcharged. Surrounding and cooking area was dirty and full of flies. Someone should give the daughter...2 tight slap for not knowing basic customer service. Idiots who don’t know how to handle fame. Avoid this place and there are many cheaper and better restaurants in Bangkok who serves better food. Michelin Star should revoke the award.More
