We just arrived in Bangkok and wandered out to have a quick drink Mr Lek was cooking something that smelled delicious and we sat down for "just a beer " . Looking at what the table next to us had on their plates convinced us to order a chicken, vegetable and rice dish to share. Then we spotted the Masaman... More

Had excellent Tom Yum soup and duck with ginger. Would definately recommend and go again. It's not posh or romantic but food is excellent and good value.

When we're drunkely stumbling home from Khaosan Road in Bangkok back to your accomodation, you may take a wrong turn and end up into some back alley where a Thai man speaks to you in English, but... in a French accent oddly enough. You stop to look at the man to make sure you're not hallucinating it, and it turns... More

Incredible, fresh, yummy, delicious. Must try in Bangkok. Heaven. Place on the street with plastic tables etc, should not be worried though - cook is a real pro and you can see him in action since he perform just besides you. Love it.

This little back-alley restaurant, street food with a permanent location not far physically from the famous (now rather banal) Khao San Road but a million miles away in spirit. It's almost a cabaret as much as a restaurant, encouragement and gentle ribbing from the staff and a show in their own right as the talk to and invite passers-by to... More

As soon as we arrive back in Bangkok, we always head here, the food is fabulous, lovely friendly staff, you can see them cooking your food, sat in the street eating and watching everything around you, just absolutely love it here. They open at 4pm, it does get very busy. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The restaurant incl. tables and seats are basically on the street. It's quite busy and you might have to wait a bit for your food. The food is good and tasty and the service friendly. You can see the chefs cooking which is rather rustic.

We wanted to get out of the touristy area of Khao San Road for some food. This place came up on tripadvisor. We jumped in a taxi and arrived in 5 mins. It turned out to be a good choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was as you would expect good Thai food to be like.... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
