Multiple dishes seemed like they were cooked earlier in the day and re-heated / re-fried. Ambiance is cool but not worth driving away from Chiang Mai city center where there’s a million better options.

My wife and I are new arrivals in the Hang Dong section of Chiang Mai. I accidentally came across this restaurant's website this afternoon, and we both immediately agreed to check it out. We ordered a banana leaf salad, chicken with cashews and a pork...knuckle. All were very good. But it's the ambience that's the real star here. And we couldn't help but notice, several small buses arrived for dinner, so the place obviously has a stellar reputation. The sound of small waterfalls by the table was super pleasant. We agreed that THIS is the restaurant where we'll bring visiting out-of-town guests.More
A local friend took us to this place - you need to drive as it is a little ways outside of the city. It was worth the drive as they had a large selection of great Thai food in an amazing venue - Huge trees,...greenery, flowers all around (even in the restrooms)! And we sat by their lake, walked past a waterfall and thoroughly enjoyed our evening together. You do have to be careful of mosquitos - they even provided fans and mosquito repellent to help us enjoy the meal without being 'eaten' by the mosquitoes!More
Well there is nothing to say against this place, it´s just as perfect as it looks. Atmosphere, staff and food are awesome. And what´s more, prices are more than friendly. I had multiple dishes and everything was delightfull, including drinks, cocktails and smoothies. Even the...toilet is state of art…More
- Amazing interior - food was NOT realy good - it was cold and not tasty - staff barely speaks english - smoothies were too sweet Overall, you can visit it once - not the place you want to visit regularly
I feel so compelled to leave a review because I wish I was warned before going to this restaurant. So, some context. We're an Irish and English couple and we love street food in Thailand but also on a holiday like to find a nice...restaurant. We heard about this restaurant from an influencer on YouTube (never again listening fo them)! We hopped on a tuk tuk , 20min outside of old city, no driver knew where we were going so that was a little alarming. It was 200baht there, but when we got there the real surprise happened! So basically, there was over 100 people waiting for this restaurant and when you arrived they hand you the menu for you to choose your dinner immediately. Then you sit outside and wait (for god knows how long) and wait for your name to be called! It's not the restaurant service western countries are used to. It seems a real tourist trap, with buses of Korean tourists arriving every 20mins. There is also no bar for you to sit and have a drink while you wait. When we were seated (30mins later) we were served our food and that was it. May I add, the food was scarily spicy and we only got a panang(and I adore spicy food, more chilli's the better but this spice was laughable). We then ordered 2 cocktails to lighten the mood and they were undrinkable. So basically we paid 1000 baht for two meals and two cocktails which we didn't eat or drink. When you leave, because this place is in the middle of nowhere off a main road, you just have to wait and hope a songathor or tuktuk passes by to bring you back to the old city! I will say this, the staff seemed to work super hard but there was no real structure as we had 3 waiters on our table bringing us the wrong dishes . The actual place is very pretty, much bigger and more spacious than you'd expect. But unless you get seated by the water(very few seats available) than you're stuck in the main hall with no view which has canteen vibe. The entire restaurant is outdoors but covered. I'd highly reconsider going here if you're not used to the chaotic ordering food and waiting around prior to being seated. Each meal is easily 250 baht for a basic Thai meal. Cocktails are 200 baht The main plus of this trip were the bathrooms - they were amazing and super creative sinks! It was money and time wasted for us unfortunately! We should have stuck to street food.. hope this review helps as we wish someone had left an informative review instead of talking about the scenery.More
Beautiful place, service okay, horrible food. I am Thai, so I know what to expect,. We specifically ordered local northern food. The sai push was green, the roasted larb was so hard it seemed like gravel, etc the only thing that was alright was their...suggested desert. Not returning soon, a shame cuz it has a Noi VW ambiance.More
I didn't expect much of the food given that so much went into the atmosphere and design. Even though it is Michelin rated, I still thought it might just be above average. My server was a little slow. It seemed that she was not that...interested in being very attentive. Other servers were way more attentive and even helped at my table when she was absent. The restaurant and tropical environment are the show stopper. But the food was really nice too. All things considered, it was a fantastic value. I had four dishes and a fruit juice and it was less than a typical, single course lunch where I live. I believe the menu is the same for dinner, making it an even better value. Plus I got to enjoy the scenery.More
Surroundings are magnificent. But it was all looks and little substance. I’d not eaten poorly in Thailand before, here the food was not good or average for our group. I had crispy duck which was crispy because bones were left, it also didn’t taste like...duck. Waiting time for table ok but we had to write our own order ourselves while waiting, I’ve never done this in a restaurant before. Food arrived quickly. I don’t understand how this restaurant is listed on Guide Michelin.More
It is probably best to visit before it gets dark so you can enjoy the gorgeous flowers and plants and really notice the intricate trees and use of trees in lavatories etc. We shared multiple dishes and everything was tasty, not too salty, and the...portions are large. We liked the fruit shakes, mint - lime, passion fruit, etc. We were so full that we barely had room for anything more than a coffee. The seasonings were very very fresh as if they had just plucked them from an organic garden!More
We have been to this restaurant before and always found the entire experience refreshing however on this visit we were sadly disappointed. The atmosphere and surroundings are amazing one of the best laid out restaurants I’ve ever been too. The food was very disappointing the...mains I ordered Sweet an Sour Chicken, very little meat and the sauce was not the nicest more like tomato sauce out of a bottle. My husband ordered beef in oyster sauce, sorry no beef so he asked for prawns or as they refer to as shrimp. The dish had about 4 large prawn carcasses with no meat almost like a prawn stock very unappetising. Sorry but would not go backMore
Best restaurant in Chiang Mai. Worth the 5-10 km drive. Most romantic setting ever. There is also a branch of this restaurant in Mae Sot, where I first experienced this restaurant. I was thrilled to hear about this Chiang Mai branch, because I’d rather be...in Chiang Mai than Mae Sot. Every dish was awesome, and their drinks were wonderful. The northern Thai dishes such as Larb Nua ( much better than the normal Larb from Issan), and the Gang Hung Lei were fantastic. I was in some kind of food and setting trance... the food and location were so good, I felt like I was on some kind of happy drug! Definitely will go back to this restaurant every time I visit Chiang Mai in the future.More
This is by far the most beautiful restaurant I have ever seen however I am vegetarian and there were no options for me on the menu not even a plain green salad without fish or meat in it the only one thing on the entire...menu was a spicy mango salad which I ordered and even though I like spice and heat it was so very hot I could only eat half of it my husband said his fish dish was just so-so but the desserts were very good and again it’s worth going to just to see this restaurant it’s gorgeousMore
As its concept, the imaginary jungle. Dining Thai and local cuisines in the ambience of an imaginary jungle. Nice restaurant's atmosphere and food presentation is good as well. Varieties of menu to choose. Taste ok. A bit pricey but still acceptable. Parking available.
A quaint restaurant with nice ambience. It feels like you are close to nature. There are lots of flowers and a waterfall feature. The restaurant has a wide menu of food and beverages at reasonable prices. We have been several times to this restaurant and...have always enjoyed our meals here.More
