I have watched the episode with Obama and Anthony Bourdain dining at this restaurant not realising it is 300m from our accommodation. We went there for dinner and the restaurant was packed. Luckily we got a table on the second level. We ordered the Combo...Obama as did most of the diners. It was sooo tasty and so cheap, 240K VND for two people. We will definitely go back before leaving this wonderful city.More

Loved the Bourdain episode with President Obama so just had to go! Flavorful Bun Cha with all the toppings. Busy, noisy and fun. The Obama Combo is obviously a popular choice but you can order individually. The fried roll was a bit greasy so I...would go with just the Bun Cha which was tasty. Definitely visit the Obama shrine, upstairs! Must do experience in Hanoi.More

Well-known small restaurant with good stree food. A great experience for bun cha fans. You can put everything together as required. The broth comes separately with the meat. You can season it yourself with chili and sprouts. Would come back anytime.

went here due to the Bourdain connection. cool to see the table hidden upstairs behind plexiglass. service was pretty poor and no ambience BUT it was typical of places like this all over the city. the Bun Cha (pork and noodle soup) was delicious! probably...the best broth I had on the whole trip.More

We came here through recommendations from one of the shop we visited. We visited them quite early for dinner at around 6pm and it wasn't very crowded. The food wasn't superb but it's a nice staple Vietnamese food to have. It's visited by Obama before...in 2016 so their menu has a "Combo Obama" where it's the Bun Cha and a Fried Seafood Roll plus a Beer. Price is reasonable. I've tasted better Bun Cha on this trip so it's just 4-star rating from me. The staff are also not very smiley and polite, but we realised that's the general manners of most of the f&b we visited here in Hanoi.More

We had late lunch there. The condition was little bit crowded. Prices were reasonable and taste was quite tasty. Raw vegetables were indispensable also. Foods were served quickly. The cleanliness was on average. The wet tissues could be rejected. Enjoyable!

If you’ve ever been a fan of Anthony Bourdain you’ll know about this place and it’s exactly why I wanted to visit. It didn’t disappoint, the restaurant is a dactyl what you see on the series and a bit rough around the edges but they...do a couple things and they do them well. First time having bun cha and it was phenomenal. It is for obvious reasons a little touristy but had no problem getting a seat straight away it’s clear a lot of guides take Americans to this spot. Again only one veggie option of spring roles however partner did say they were the best she had had in Hanoi so far.More

Our visit was a mixed bag. Pros - cheap, tasty food (the parts we felt were safe to eat). Cons - we wanted to sit outside but staff insisted we go upstairs to eat. Upstairs was crowded, dirty and generally unpleasant. The staff were pushy,...impatient and abrupt - as a customer you felt you were a nuisance just being there. They wanted us to order, eat and get out as quickly as possible and had no tolerance for questions or indecision. We felt nervous about the hygiene; we observed that cut limes and salad were being pushed from table to table I.e. anything not eaten was combined and placed on the next customer’s table. We only ate the parts of the meal that were hot to avoid risk of illness. Would not return.More

We got there just after 17:30, there was no queue, only messy tables and floor. Food was served very quickly but the soup was not hot. Roasted beef was tasty and fresh salad was fresh. The staff here were the most unfriendly people we have...come across in Vietnam. I bet Obama didn’t go back and neither will we.More

Bún chả - one of the first reasons we chose Hanoi as our next destination. While Anthony Bourdain and Obama ultimately brought us to this location, the food and friendly staff are another factor to visit. The multi-storied location makes you feel immersed in authentic...Vietnamese culture. The ingredients blend so well together despite being so simple. Broth, rice noodles, meat, garlic, and chilis - the perfect meal, at such a cheap price.More

If you are looking for a place to enjoy some authentic Vietnamese cuisine, you may want to check out Bún chả Hương Liên, a modest eatery in Hanoi that serves one of the country's most known dishes: bún chả. This is a mouthwatering combination of...grilled pork and rice noodles, dipped in a tangy sauce and garnished with fresh herbs and vegetables. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the flavors are unforgettable. But don't take my word for it. Just ask former President Barack Obama, who dined here with the late Anthony Bourdain in 2016. The two men shared a meal of bún chả, spring rolls, and cold Hanoi beer while chatting like old friends. The restaurant now even offers a "Combo Obama" for those who want to follow their footsteps. Of course, not everyone is a fan of this place, especially the staff, who seem to have lost all interest in their jobs. They greet you with a bored look, take your order with a sigh, and bring your food with a shrug. They rarely smile, make eye contact, or say thank you. They act as if they are doing you a favor by serving you and not the other way around. Maybe they are tired of the fame, or maybe they just don't care. Either way, don't expect any hospitality from them. But hey, who needs friendly service when you have such delicious food, right? After all, you're not here to make friends, you're here to eat. And eat you will, because the barbecued pork is so good, you'll want to lick your plate clean. It's tender, juicy and smoky with a spicy glaze that pairs perfectly with the noodles and the sauce. It's the kind of dish that makes you forget about everything else, even the disinterested staff. So, if you're looking for a place to enjoy some authentic Vietnamese cuisine, and maybe a slice of history, this is a must visit spot in Hanoi. Just don't forget to bring your appetite and your sense of humor. And maybe a tip for the staff, because they sure look like they need it.More

Fun place to visit as it's notoriously known for Obama and Bourdain's visit. This could be a good spot to show off on social media and to also enjoy a nice lunch/dinner. It's overrated as I was expecting better food quality following the hype of...Obama-Bourdain's visit, but their bun cha is just average compared to other bun cha places in Hanoi. Hygiene/cleanliness is average. Otherwise, the staff is very nice.More

The grilled pork at Bun Cha Lien Huong is nothing short of perfection – juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The smoky aroma from the grill wafts through the air, setting the stage for a mouthwatering meal. The rice vermicelli is cooked to perfection, providing...the ideal base for the succulent pork. The accompanying herbs and dipping sauce add a refreshing and zesty kick, enhancing the overall dining experience.More
