We had a launch here in January 2017. The only soup named 'Hassa Çorbası' tastes like a kind of Chinese 'dough drop soup'. The shrimp stew is quite style, for cold appetizer. Beef kebab and lamb shank is also recommended.

Matbah is the place to go to if you like good food and want to discover the dishes Ottoman sultans had the chance to feast on. Now, unless you have the chance to eat outside in summer the setting does not seem like much. In fact, we expected dervishes only to be told they haven't been there in a long... More

Had the lamb casserole with figs, apricots and baby onions, and a dessert of 'mastic' and fruit - I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!! The service was impeccable.

This was one of my first restaurants in Istanbul. Such a romantic place, in a historical building, with real Ottoman Cuisine in a wonderful environment. Great!

This place was recommended to me from a different hotel. The best dinner I had in Istanbul. Excellent quality, service and not expensive as one could think. The restaurant site is clean and confortable. Recommended visit. Won't regret.

All I can say is not value for money. Had bad experience in terms of food. Ordered chicken dish and spinach but that was not upto my expectations. Will never go there again. But hospitality of the waiters were good. Went there thru trip advisor reviews.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
