The night before the Istanbul Marathon our group of friends from NYC, Florida and Lyon, France went to En La Luna. Some wanted pasta, some wanted fish and some Ottoman. En La Luna had it all. The pasta was wonderful, the Saray Kebai was interesting and delicious - lamb, peppers and onions served on top of mashed potatoes. The Seabass... More

This little street cafe was just down from our hotel and had lots of character. The staff was very friendly. Abdul, the host, made sure everything was right. After paying our bill and having walked down the street and around the corner, Abdul came running after us with our bill. I had overpaid and he had come to have me... More

We were looking for a great restaurant as a fitting finale to our three-week vacation in Turkey and we weren't disappointed by the Restaurant En La Luna. The ambiance is romantic and breezy, and the service was fine. We were warmly greeted by the owner who checked in with us several timess during our meal. We started with the meze... More

We enjoyed two meals here during our seven night stay in Sultanahmet. With so many restaurants to choose from, it's difficult to justify eating in the same place twice but the hospitality show by the owner, Mr Cebrail Ejderha, along with his good conversation and amusing anecdotes, added an intangible value to the experience. What a nice man! En La... More

I am SOOOOOOO happy. My favourite resturant in Istanbul - which happens to be the resturant of my favourite hotel Seven Dreams - has re opened! The food is in my opinion is the BEST Ottoman food in Sultanahmet and that makes it difficult to eat anywhere else! The staff are still as friendly and helpful as ever and the... More

Lovely food and lovely staff make this restaurant a must for anyone visiting Istanbul. The Sac Kavurma was one of the best things I've ever eaten and so much better than the twice as expensive hotel nearby. It was so good we went back for a second time!

We had dinner in La la luna in August 2010. We booked a table on the roof terrace just 20 minutes before going to the restaurant, so the table we were shown eas not very nice, did not have nice views. The restaurant occupies the ground floor and roof terrace of a hotel, which a quite a habit in Istanbul.... More

My girlfriends and I stumbled upon En La Luna by chance … just strolling around the Sultanahmet district looking for somewhere to eat near our hotel. It was perfect and pleasant from the beginning. No one solicited us to dine there, like they do at so many other restaurants and cafés in the city. They just let us wander in... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
