The meat is marinated somhow special. It was delicious .The service was overall brilliant.Only the chairs should be more comfortable and the way back to the centre shouldnt be that complicated because of the tram nearby its better to go there without your car.Better if you want to drink alittle bit.We love the honey sauce chicken.

Based on the reviews here, I went to Khorasani the first time. And went back based on the first experience. My first meal was the eggplant kebab, which was very tasty and juicy. The eggplant and the kebab were roast to perfection--a bit charred outside but still moist and firm in the inside. My second meal was the Sultan's Delight,... More

We had an opportunity to visit this restaurant while staying in Sultanahmet's area. Our hotel recommended it and we were not disappointed at all. The food is fresh and cooked on the premises. They don't have boys with those massive trays that display entire menu. They have a proper menu which is full of Turkish delights. The atmosphere is always... More

My wife and I visited Khorasani in August of 2011. We were at first pleasantly surprised that such a highly rated restaurant could be located so close to the main divan yolu tourist avenue. We sat in the outdoor area, which made for a nice initial atmosphere as people streamed in for the breaking of fast and the lights illuminated... More

Khorasani was a great find. The food had wonderful tastes, and our waiter made great suggestions from a very extensive menu. The sauces were especially tasty. The location was excellent--just a block off the main street, but it was quiet and great to eat outside.

We enjoyed the outdoor seating at this restaurant and the service was very good. We had a mixed mezze starter and I had a lamb kabab. My wife ordered the "Sultan"s Favorite" entree but found the lamb to be very tough. The restaurant did offer to replace the dish with something else and brought a complimentary dessert in an effort... More

We ate here on our first night in Istanbul because I had seen the favorable reviews on Tripadvisor and also because the restaurant was very conveniently located between our hotel and Divan Yolu. We were not disappointed and eded up returning later ! The freshly baked bread was especially good and the food was tasty. The service was also very... More

It's on a charming little pedestrian street with lots of restaurants, near the Blue Mosque. The outdoor seating is very pleasant, and the indoors is well decorated and has their big kebap grill in the middle. The food was exceptionally delicious and reasonably priced. We had the grilled calamari to start (awesome!) and a few different types of kebaps for... More

"Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
