This was my third visit and everything was as great as always! The kebabs were perfect, the desserts were absolutely amazing ! This looks to be one of the most popular local restaurants in the city.

Rumist Café and Art Bistro (Akbiyik Caddessi, Adliye Soğaki No. 5/A; Tel: +90 212 458 66 41) in the heart of Istanbul's colorful historic district, Sultanahmet, is a great place to rest your feet and treat your taste buds. The lentil soup alone is worth a trip across oceans, but everything two of us ate during many visits in November,... More

We found Cafe Rumi on the "Happy Cow" website. Good atmosphere with a lovely house cat wandering around between the tables :-). I would definitely recommend this place also to Vegetarians/Vegans. They made a special vegan meal for us. We were served with a free appetizer and free tea after the meal. Thank you guys!

Atmosphere was awesome. Situated in a quiet area just off the tourist path. We ordered a mixed kebap cooked in the traditional clay pot. The serving of this was the highlight of the evening as they bring it out on fire and crack it in front of you. Omar, the waiter was a young man from Kurdish background who was... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
