The food is just bad. The appetizers are not much better. With so many restaurants around this is a place to avoid. The staff don't speak English but are friendly. The restaurant has a really local ambiance.

Just up the road from Pera Palace in Istanbul is this restaurant . Very welcoming and the owner very proud of his trip advisor reviews. We had a small meal as we had just flown in and weren't really hungry but it was delicious and the service was excellent, very attentive, and they brought us fruit and a great chocolate... More

On a quiet narrow side Street off of bustling Iskitlal Street you will find Mavi Melek. The Manager is a gentleman and his Staff provides excellent service. The menu has a nice selection of Mezes to begin and a wide variety of Fish and Meat dishes. The first evening I had Pan Sauteed Anchovies, not at all greasy, just the... More

The staff were very friendly, and saw that my friend was upset and treated us very nicely. We went in for a drink and were given a beautiful chocolate pudding and turkish tea free of charge ! would highly recommend, not only was the food and service lovely but they definitely cheered my friend up after having received some sad... We went with a friend who lives in Istanbul, she recommended the food. It was full of locals, the food was amazing. The owner and waiter were friendly but not over the top, they offer covers in case you are cold and gave us a free raki (the national drink). Overall it was a good night

We were talked into this place as our first choice Asmali Cavit was closed. The service is good and the place is usually full of people but the different types of fish we ordered were just okay. Too much oil. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you just want to catch a drink.

Thank Siddharth B

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
