This is a very cute little cafe in Beyoglu, decorated with old football and movie posters, that serves delicious locally made soft drinks. We didn't actually have any of the food here, as for us the stars were the flavored sodas. Several pages of the...More

From the half a dozen or so cafés in this little street, this seems like the cosiest and interesting. I wanted young, unassuming trendy decor with Turkish food and totally found it.

Avam is one of those places you might find by chance while wandering around Beyoglu and if so, it instantly becomes a favorite and you re-visit as soon as possible. There is nothing extraordinary about the menu, the usual tea&ciffee aoptions, and some light meals...More

This café/restaurant was a great find! Great atmosphere, unpretentious, friendly welcome, good food served until late and guess what, it's not expensive. You just want to spend the whole evening there drinking tea and listening to the Queen discography. Loved the decor and their curry...More

I accidentally wandered into this fabulous little tearoom-slash-dinner cafe when shopping the back streets of Cihangir and trying to avoid the crowds of the Istiklal. I could not have been happier I did. This warm and inviting cafe run by Ulas and his cousin is...More

Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal
Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night
and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights,
shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of
people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive
Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of
the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned
restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening

Avam Kahvesi - a place that strives to create a middle class microcosmos of 50s to 80s Turkey. It is the only place in Istanbul, where you can enjoy rare local soda pops such as Bağlar (Safranbolu), Kayısı Kola (Malatya), Zafer (Denizli) etc. On the menu you will find a selection of tasty toasts, sandwiches, salads, pastas, traditional main dishes and desserts, as well as delicious drinks.
