Not joking don't waste your time and your money in this awful place!!! -I never tasted such a disgusting meat it is probably human flesh !! - no sauce: KEBAB is dry and so tasteless! - waiters don't care about the clients Conclusion: if I could have put less than 1 star, I would've done it.

A lot of the touristy restaurants around the main streets and squares of Sultanahmet seem a bit interchangeable, but I’m yet to have a bad meal in any of them. In fact, Semazen’s was probably the best, perfectly grilled lamb for about 25 lira. Staff get you in and then forget you a bit, however. Also the coffee seemed weak.

This Doner and Cafe is the stomachs best friend, not only for poor travelling students but also for the more successful tourist who wants to get the feel of simple wholesome and inexpensive Turkish cuisine. I loved everything about the place from the old wooden covered benches to the simple menu and especially the waiters who knew every returning customer... More

Yes, it is overpriced. Yes, we have waited for our food a bit too long. But was it worth it? Absolutely. Usually, I plan beforehand which restaurants/cafes to eat at, mainly because I'm vegan, but also because that's just my nature, but this time the decision to eat at this cafe was made on the spot, after me and my... I tried many Kebab and Shawarma Restaurant, and I find Semazen Doner & Cafe the best provider of those plates, especially the Iskandarani Shawarma menus. Well served within minutes, with a good welcome, and excellent location just beside SultanAhmet Historical Area. An excellent Budget Restaurant especially for Dinner.

Mainly Shawarma is there. We tried one Saj Chicken and one Mutton Shawarma. It is really tasty but overpriced. It comes with potato and salads.

Uninspired food served lukewarm by indifferent staff. Portion size and general presentation not nearly as it looks on the photos in the menu. I know better than to stop at a place like this in the middle of the tourist drag - why did I not heed my own advice? Stay away!

This place offers great food at amazing price. This place never disappoints me whenever I visit Istanbul. I feel it is one of the best places in and around Sultanahmet to have a yummy & pocket friendly meal.

Food was ok, price also. Problem was that next to our table was a girl on her own who got harassed by one of the waiters (and the others didn't mind at all). The girl was really uncomfortable and tried to politely reject the guy, who kept hitting on her. We felt compelled to stay so she wouldn't be alone... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
