We saw that this restaurant was very near our hotel and that it was top rated on Google Maps, but we ended up returning to it for the quality of the food and the nice and polite service. The kebabs and casseroles are exquisite and the staff is very welcoming, something that was a rare commodity during our 10- day trip in Istanbul. The atmosphere is really chill and you usually get a little treat at the end in the form of tea or coffee. The prices are moderate and they don't charge service on the bill, which is what we experienced several times in Istanbul. Therefore, be sure to be nice and leave a tip :) All in all, Turkish hospitality at its finest.

My friend and I visited here after a walking tour of the city. What a welcome experience! The food was delicious, the staff were very attentive, and they had a wide variety of wines to choose from. Lovely experience, and the fact they played a bunch of American and Turkish pop music was a great addition to the meal. :-)

After being to the grand basaar we went to this restaurant that was very close and we had the best food experience here. The staff was very nice and I strongly recommend the chicken with cream and soy soyce. And the lemonade was amazing and tasted fresh after walking in the grand basaar. They also called a taxi for us which was really helpful. If I go back to Istanbul I will definitely go back to this restaurant.

The food is ok, can’t say they serve something special. We went there due to positive reviews on Google maps but were rather surprised to find out how prices are quite high for Laleli (thr commerce region of Istanbul) and also compared to restaurants in Sultanahmet (the Old city center, the most touristy place). For example: the naar (pomegranate) fresh costed me 6 turkish liras in Taksim (the shopping street), and 20 liras in Sultanahmet. So restaurants in Laleli were expected to be cheaper than Sultanahmet, but this one (Byzantion) in particular was quite expensive.

A few issues. The main and most serious one is that items that are on the menu that are labelled as gluten free are not. I took the beef shish/skewer that is labelled as gluten free. It had arrived with a wheat flour wrap placed on top and underneath. My beef was also way over cooked when I requested rare to medium. The prices are very steep. It’s unlike me to write poor reviews, but I feel in regards to food intolerances, it’s extremely important.

Such a lovely place for dinner and drinks. The staff work very hard to make it a great experience. I love the steak and they cooked it to perfections, which isn’t easy as I am very fussy! It is the perfect place for a couple to eat, chat and have fun!

We were there in October as couple weekend trip, me and my wife had enjoyed every minute of staying in Istanbul. We stayed near Sultanahmet area which is walking distance most of the magnificent places and when it comes to food I heard that ottoman cuisine is tastes different then any other food kind of all flavors inside like Gemici boregi- Kavun dolmasi Armut tatlisi are just some of them. I have tried in some other places not like Byzantion Bistro food. Staff amazing always smiling by the way don’t forget to have a tea (chai)Thank you so much for great work.

Byzantion Bistro is the best, My wife and I had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary and couldn’t have made a better choice. This is wonderful fine dining and well worth it. The menu specialises in Ottoman dishes that are not available at the other restaurants. We went there for a nice, relaxed and intimate dinner and must say that the experience was great. Our waiter, Hasan recommended a great wine to go with the delicious food we ordered. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. With all the fresh ingredients, delicious spice blends and the masterful cooking techniques, the resulting dishes were outstandingly tasty and colourful!

The menu comprises out of local traditional dishes, with pictures for your convenience, since most names don't make any sense for a tourist. The food we received was exactly as shown on pics. They also have a free wifi, the place is clean and personnel friendly.

Average. It was the first restaurant we saw, we just arrived in Istanbul and were very hungry. We’ve got some appetizers on the house (the hummus was awful, just mashed chickpeas) and after that we had: beef with mashed eggplant (this one was very good), tasteless lasagna, some kind of green curry and grilled chicken with champinion sauce and wedges (ok-ish). The water was very kind and friendly, but the food it s not worth the price ( around 850 turkish lira ).

Byzantion Bistro & Restaurant will not dissapoint you. It’s one of the best places if your are looking for authentic otoman culinary recipes. Also the background atmosphere is very cosy. Last but not the least, our host, Emre was more then welcoming and a nice person, making you feel comfortable. We will definitely return to this local gem.

We had a truly excellent meal here, the food was the best we have eaten in Istanbul matched by perfect service. We would rate this as a much visit restaurant, the selection of local wines were well priced (for Istanbul). The one thing that we have never got to grips with everywhere in Istanbul is the lack of “breathing “ space between the starters and the main course.

After 4 nights of Turkish food we fancied a change and didn’t want to go far from hotel . Saw this restaurant on trip advisor and even though we were initially put off by Italian/Chinese restaurant looked at the reviews which were 95% 5 stars decided to take a chance . The food was awful out of 12 people starters and mains no one had a good meal , I have given 1 Star because the waiter was good and the wine was decent wish we had gone with our initial thought

I went here for an authentic Turkish meal. The menu is long but if you discard the non Turkish options the choices are limited. Wine by the glass only 1 option. On top, the prices are quite high. 30+ eur for a main and 2 drinks is steep for turkey

Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
