Since my first travels to Istanbul back in 2007, Saray Muhallebicisi always comes highly reccomended. This particular branch has a few stories and endless options of sweet treats. I always come back for the "Trilece" dessert - althought not really Turkish (its roots are in the Balkans and is a cousin of the South America Tres Leche desserts) it is... More

While walking through istiklal street you would need a stop to get back your energy. This place has all kinds of sweets. Although they don't speak english but we managed to get what we want since all is displayed in front of you. Their prices are relatively very good.

Everytime we visit Istanbul we go this place, located on Istiklal street, minimum one-two times. The staff is very nice, food is good and sweets are excellent (also tea and coffee).

I love this place..... Each time I go to Istanbul I must go there and eat sweets sepcially baklava. The staff are very friendly and nice. The food quality is great. The turkish tea they serve is different from most of similar places. It is just great to spend hours there and enjoy the qaulity sweets and drinks.

We had two very contrasting experiences at this restaurant. The first time was great: welcoming and attentive staff, comfy seating on a cold/wet day and tasty food at good $ value for dinner. Thoroughly enjoyable. The second time we unfortunately were served by a very rude and obnoxious waiter, who was so abrupt and dismissive towards our daughter (strike 1)... More

Every time I visit Istanbul I make sure to pass by. This time I tried the one at Osmanbey, and it was wonderful. I advise visiting.

From the name of this restaurant you can know that it's a place for sweets, but we had a long shopping day at istiklal street so we wanted to find a good place for a lunch, we choose this restaurant, the staffs are friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is full almost anytime, and hard to find a place, the food... A busy patisserie type place, with a comprehensive menu. Watch what the locals have - mainly, the excellent Doner sandwiches, cheese fondue and the desserts - follow their lead, and you'll be more than satisfied. Probably the best place to break your Istiklal shopping visit - we went several times!

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
