Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Made a reservation. The service was terrible from start to finish. Their burgers are very good, but one in our party ordered a Filet and after two bites did not eat the rest saying it was poor. I actually shared part of my burger with...them. Drink refills never happened. We ordered dessert and it was 30 mins. coming out.More

How can you enjoy a meal when the service is so bad. Actually, our waitress was very sweet and tried to be helpful, but she must have been constrained by bad management. It started when we first entered on a weekday evening, with not many...customers. After waiting way too long just to get a menu, the hostess grumbled that she would get someone to our table. Eventually we ordered, but it did not improve. I ordered a hamburger, medium well, and our friend ordered kebab. My wife ordered soup which came first, but was barely warm. My hamburger was raw inside, so I sent it back. In the meantime, we waited for the kebab. And waited. And waited. Eventually my hamburger came back. I ate it slowly, and we still waited for the kebab. I asked the waitress 3 times about it, and she said it was coming. After my wife and I both finished our meals, the kebab finally came, raw inside. At this point we had enough and just left. I don't even remember if the food was good or not, I only remember the poor management, which will surely drive the restaurant bankrupt if they don't decide to improve. One more comment - we sat outside where it was rather cool. Instead of the space heaters restaurants usually have outdoors, this one had hanging heating elements over each table, right over our heads. The top of my head was so hot, I had to leave before I got burned. It was either too cold, or burning hot. Not a great choice. Space heaters would have been perfect.More

This venue has a nice atmosphere. We were there with a couple of friends. I ordered a certain dish but was given the wrong one. I accepted it to save time. After complaining we got free deserts which were delicious.

We wouldn't have minded waiting so long for the food to arrive if it had been worth waiting for. The 70 shekel hamburger was overcooked and the portions of the lamb kebab and chicken thighs were so meager that our friends had to go out...for falafel after the meal. The prices were appalling for such niggardly portions. We will not be going back - ever.More

Me and the wife (both hebrew speaking israeli's) decided to eat here, food and drinks were very nice and enjoyable, but. A waitress without announcement whilst we were eating decided to move our table the wrought iron legs scraping my leg and spilling our drinks....We asked to speak to the manager as we got no apology or acknowledgement of what had happened. We were shocked to be informed that it was then the manager that had done this to us! The waitress sensed we were upset and brought 2 cakes free as compensation, then took one away! We asked for the bill and the waitress hand wrote on our bill service not included. We decided to tip. Then as we were putting our coats on the waitress asked us to leave as new customers were waiting and kicked our shopping bags from under the table into the centre of the restaurant. I took the tip back. Toilets are also code locked so not convenient.More

We enjoyed dinner at Herzl. Our first waitress was very helpful with some food allergy concerns. After she left, the service was a little slow, but we all had good dinners. The menu had a lot of variety, which offered many choices for our family...of picky eaters.More

This restaurant is now called In Joy Herzl. We have been in Israel for 2 weeks and this was our best meal so far. The sushi was excellent. We also had vegetarian pasta, steak and a chicken salad which we all enjoyed. The service was...friendly and helpful although occasionally a bit slow. We would certainly return to eat here.More

Service was slow as molasses, plus they forgot one of our dishes, so we had to wait even longer for that one. Steak was tough, tasteless and full of gristle. Potatoes were cold. Couscous was much too salty and otherwise tasteless. Pasta dish was inedible...because of way too many onions.More

I took my wife to Herzl for her 40th birthday. The prices were very very high and we waited a long time for our food. What we received were two very small portions that were ok at best. We left hungry after spending nearly 400...nis. The waitress never even brought us our drinks. The worst part was the end. I had a 10% coupon with me. The manager informed us that we can't use it because it's a holiday. I informed her that this is not indicated on the coupon nor on the website. She didn't care. What a disappointment Hertz was!More

My extended family and I (we were 8 in total) went to Herzl last night and walked away (as the subject line says) very disappointed. I know it was a Thursday night (typically the most busy night for restaurants in Israel) and it was also...Chanukkah (a lot of tourist business), but if you are an upscale restaurant, charging upscale prices, you need to properly prepare yourselves and live up to a certain standard. Here were the issues: 1. While friendly, the service was very slow (i.e. it took a long time for us to get our food). 2. They got our orders wrong for both the appetizer and mains. 3. Our steaks and burgers were served to us cold (the price for each ranged from 65 shekel for the burger to 155 shekel ($45!) for the steak. 4. We presented them with a coupon and they did not want to accept it. They said it was not valid on holidays. We argued that nowhere on the coupon did it say that the coupon was not valid on holidays. It was only after an argument that they reluctantly accept it. I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon...More

This was a bit of a surprise. Our first time in Jerusalem, we found the new Mamilla Mall by chance, thought the architecture was great (and no, we aren't great fans of shopping malls!!) and the sculpture exhibition was really fun. Feeling peckish, we went...into Herzl, which looked quite ordinary. But they had great beer, a friendly young waitress a great bowl of soup and then some EXCELLENT sushi and sashimi. Really good!More

Our tour group ate here on the first night in Jerusalem and all agreed it was an excellent choice. First of all we had a short but pleasant walk on Mamilla Street, which is actually an outdoor mall with wonderful places to shop and an...art piece about every 10 yards. While the restaurant is best known as a kosher steak house, we had a traditional Israeli multi-dish meal with dish after dish placed on the table to be passed. The waitstaff was extremely well trained and pleasant. I would return for sure.More

Not the very best meal we have ever had, but a darn good one! Three of us went. Two of us had the soup of the day, a slightly spicy tomato soup served in such a large portion, it could have been dinner by itself....One of us had the chicken stuffed spring rolls- perfectly fried and served with a whole cherry sauce. For dinner, one of us had the tenderloin steak (called sinta in Hebrew), one had BBQ ribs and the third of us had pargiyot (baby chicken thighs). Each dish came with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. The food was excellent. It was tasty, it was served hot and cooked the way each of us requested. Once the food was served, however, our waitress became a ghost, and it was a tad difficult to get her attention for our post meal beverages. Would we go back? We all agreed that we would. The question that Trip Advisor asks- was it the best meal ever?- is a tad misleading. Yes, it was a wonderful meal. The food, once again, was indeed excellent. But the best? No way. There are chef's restaurants that are much better. For the three of us, the meal came to 400 New Israel Shekels ($114) without tip. All in all, we had a wonderful evening there. Herzl is located on the first floor of the Mamila mall.More

We were welcomed in with a glass of cava. The restaurant wasn't busy. We had excellent starters and mains, but by the time we asked for the dessert menu it was getting busier. We were clearly forgotten! Eventually we just got the bill and left....The food was very good but we won't hurry backMore
