Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I stayed in an Executive Suite in this Hotel for 3 nights. We had breakfast here every morning during our stay. The quality of the food was excellent. We enjoyed coffee, fruits and the Mohinga noodles. Staff service was very good.

Have read some reviews about this place before visiting Yangon. Thus, told my guide that this is a MUST visit place for my trip. We went for afternoon tea. There is a choice of Myanmar high tea or Western high tea set. We took both....Though the price is a bit at the high side, they serve good quality tea and the pastries and snacks are really good and tasty. I will recommend all visitors to include this place as part of their trip itinerary.More

A lovely colonial building with traditional decor. We enjoyed an extremely good high tea in stylish surroundings. A great contrast to the rest of The city.

Booked for High Tea as a treat on the final day of our holiday (our honeymoon). After we were seated it took an hour for the food to be brought, by which time we'd finished drinking the tea. The cakes were not very nice: lacking...in flavour. I was disappointed as I'd hoped for something special. The bill included an item we hadn't ordered, so it had to be amended. Service charge was included automatically, but the service was dreadful. I do not recommend this restaurant.More

We picked the place for our convenience distance after visiting the Botahtung pagoda. The cafe serves both traditional local Myanmar and western dishes, a bit small selection for lunch. We ordered their signature club sandwich and spaghetti meat sauces. The bread served warm and tasty...butter.More

Ironically, we had High Tea on Independence Day - Burma's 72nd - at the elegant and gracious Strand Cafe in the Strand Hotel. There are two choices - you can have Burmese High Tea or English. We chose the former and it duly appeared in...a large laquered tiffin carrier lined with fresh banana leaves and contained multiple Burmese treats ending with divine sticky, coconutty sweets in the last tray. It was so fun opening each tray to reveal the surprise inside. The English Tea came on tiered plates, of course, and looked equally delicious. There is a large range of teas to choose from and ours came in a capacious teapot which was regularly refilled with hot water, at our request. The Cafe itself is just beautiful, with traditional Toile de Jouy wallpapaer, opulent upholstery, wicker and dark laquered woodwork. I felt soooo glamourous and rather memshahib, which may have been totally infradig, depending on your point of view! It goes without saying that the staff were gracious and attentive and they make a mean gin and tonic - as you might expect! I loved this and it was a great way to end our visit to Burma.More

Excellent service by a young French male waiter was the beginning of our experience for both dinner and breakfast. The 3 course meal for dinner was very well priced and breakfast consisting of truffled artichokes and eggs one of the best I have ever eaten....The atmosphere was enhanced by the beautiful fresh flowers.More

I used to have the set lunch here every day on my previous visit to Rangoon. The Strand has been refurbished since then and it's looking like its more famous sibling Raffles so I was pleased that the set lunch is still available, still affordable...and probably even better than before.More

I wanted to experience a bit of colonial grandeur in Yangon and had read that The Strand Hotel is well worth visiting. The hotel is full of old world charm and style - the decor is stunning. We really enjoyed having a drink at The...Strand Cafe - delicious fresh fruit juices, a salted caramel milkshake and a long black. And we were really surprised to be given some excellent macarons to have with our drinks. A lovely spot to enjoy a look into the past.More

For my sister’s final afternoon in Myanmar, I booked this special venue and we both reflect so positively on it being such a special visit. We have been fortunate to enjoy afternoon tea in some really cool venues both in the UK and abroad, but...the Myanmar High Tea is just so unique. The venue harks back to colonial times and irrespective of your views on that era, The Strand has embraced the architecture and design to transport you back to 1901 when the hotel opened. Whilst the ‘Classic’ (Western) afternoon tea looked amazing, the amazing use of local produce made our choice the right one in our view. The staff are simply exceptional and we were served by William, who was delightful. However, it was Than Htike who really went the extra mile to make this a visit we wouldn’t forget. He explained the food in detail and talked about the importance of certain produce in local cuisine. He proudly described the story of The Strand and did everything possible to make it a memorable experience. He is such an asset to The Strand Cafe. I can’t wait to take other people during the remainder of my own stay in the country.More
