Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a good choice if you want a very reasonably priced meal in a local restaurant. We had chicken biryani and it was really tasty. Service is good. No alcohol is served, but fruit juices, especially the lime, were good.

The staff was kind and welcoming but I was a bit disappointed by the food. I ordered a dhal fry, a garlic naan and a watermelon juice. The food arrived less than 5 minutes after order, which for me can be a sign that the food is not fresh (I'll be able to tell in a few hours I guess). The dhal is not bad but really special either; the quantity was fine for me, but too small according to the Indian standards. The watermelon juice had still lots of pieces. Still good all right but it's no more efforts for them to blend a little more and it's way more tasty for the consumer. Eventually, it's a good place to eat quick and cheap food for lunch, but for a romantic dinner go somewhere else.

Went for lunch, had chicken biryani (Burmese style) and a sour soup to accompany. Portions are big and you can have more. Taste was excellent. The testament to the restaurant was that there was a steady stream of people going in and out and a long queue for take away.

It was a worst experience visiting this muslim biryani house. Totally tasteless and full of oil. Went there because was late and no other alternative was available

I was looking for a reasonable price for Briyani within walking distance from my PanPacific. Not far from the hotel, Nilar briyani has a tasty briyani with a reasonable price. The service is fast and very professional. Would really recommend it.

We happened upon this Biryani diner whilst walking downtown Yangon. I remembered it from the Eyewitness touting it as Yangon's best Biryani restaurant so we just had to try it! With no airs and graces, expect to just have a quick and convenient curry fix! True to its name, most patrons order the large portions of a wide selection of interesting Biryanis (including a chicken liver Biryani!), but since my hubby did not feel for rice, and I do not eat rice, we opted for a mutton dopiaza with a lachedar paratha; and a Punjabi gobhi. Both dishes were teasingly tasty since the portion sizes, in my opinion, were a bit on the small side. Complimentary pickles and sauces, as well as a fanciful curled papad, are offered with each meal. The Indian ginger tea I ordered was delightfully gingery and well-spiced, and I was forced to order another cuppa! Well recommended as a good place for a quick Indian fix at affordable prices!

Came here for a late lunch on the weekend. They’re pretty efficient when it comes to taking your order and then sending the food to you. I ordered a faluda drink and a chicken biryani. Probably should’ve gone for the lassi instead (I’ll come back later to try that out). The biryani, though...was a bit disappointing. The chicken was pretty dry...and I think it was missing a little bit of meat (felt like I was picking out a lot of bones from the leg...). Definitely not as good as that from another place that I tried out one street over for a similar price. The rice / seasoning was just ok. Not sure I’d recommend this place if you’re right on time.

Nilar isn't fancy and doesn't pretend to be. It's authentic and real. The food is what counts--and it is delicious. The restaurant opens onto a main street in downtown, but tables are upstairs. Queue up, order at the counter and pay, then head upstairs with your number. Perfect place to pop in on a hot day and relax in the AC with a fresh lassi.

So delicious and super cheap. They’re cranking out the food like crazy during lunch so you know it’s fresh. Chicken biryani, daal, roti and naan. All excellent!! Wish i could go back.

Solo after work visit. This is how I like my Indian restaurants. Very casual and basic inside, so not fancy but neither is it skanky, and it has AC. Perfect if you're either on your own, or with a load of unruly kids. The menu is fairly extensive and is "proper" Indian. The food was served quickly and was delicious. Prices reasonable. Lots of clients prove it's good. Highly rated - if you like proper Indian food and value food over fancy rubbish, go here. I will be returning.

Indeed, there is just chicken and mutton. I would recommend mutton, albeit the same price as chicken, as the meat was most tender, and fell off the bone . The cost in Kyats terms was about 3200, and in English currency that about £1.50. Dead cheap, and not only was the food plentiful, but most tasty. If you ask for extra, they will bring you a quarter plate full, at no extra cost. Also, there are nice accompaniments to the meal, all free of charge. We preferred sitting upstairs in the restaurant.
