Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Average service and food , music too loud ...of course my personal opinion . When I want to have a relaxed lunch and conversation I don't need disco music . Over all : nice place but too expensive ( small portions ) . Service good but not better that in many other places ...

After an early-morning visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, this was the perfect place to fortify ourselves with coffee and dim sum. We were quickly seated, and the food came out in a very timely fashion. Open-air and nice view as well.

We called in for cold drinks and cake and to get some respite from the heat after a walk round the park. Service was very friendly and the waiter switched an additional fan on for us as it must have been apparent we were melting. We had sprite and a still orange juice with juicy bits over ice which was really refreshing. The cheesecakes (I had the raspberry and My husband had the mango), were delicious. Reasonable prices considering the prime location next to the park. Everyone was lovely and let us stay as long as we wanted even though we were having cakes and not a full meal. Obviously a popular spot and for good reason !

Breakfast after an early morning( (7am) visit to the Shwe Dagon pagoda was wonderful. Dim sum of course but what a selection. Obviously had too much but we were watching what other people were having with greedy/envious eyes. Not cheap but jolly good

After a tiring morning of exploring the Shwe Dagon we visited the nearby Garden Bistro for lunch. The restaurant is rustic brick, understated elegance, crisp service. Classy but not overly costly. We overdid it and had seven superb dim sum dishes (5 would have been better for two people), Had a large beer, water and a pana cota. The check came to around $25.00, not unreasonable for the quality of food and incredible ambience. This not a tourist restaurant, there was only one other western couple and many tables with locals. The restaurant is very open and airy, with nice views of the lake. Clear English menu, staff English limited but we got by fine. They even called a taxi for us and had us wait at our table. Very worth the splurge (and not really expensive) if you are a dim sum fan. They had a regular menu too, but we did not even look at it. Would come back again. Its about a one km walk from the Pagoda, or a 3 kyat taxi ride because they have to take a very roundabout route. 3 - 5 kyat back to downtown.

There is a more casual Bistro overlooking the Lake but if you approach from the road side it proclaims itself as a Fine Dining restaurant. Well, that may be so and the two Asian dinners I had there were extremely good and at their low prices it was even better. The interior restaurant is spacious and cooled with attentive service that lives up to its proclaimed status. It is within easy walking distance of Upper Pansodan road if you are staying there and also only 10 minutes down the hill from the Shwedagon Pagoda. A real find.

I have reserved a table there during Thingyan festival, the restaurant accepted the reservation but did not informed us that it will be closed during the festival. In the end after we visited Shwedagon pagoda, we took a cab down to this restaurant and in the end we noticed that the restaurant is dark and it paste a banner outside the gate to notify people that it will only open on the 18 Apr 2018. A total waste of our time and they should have highlighted to customer that they will be closed during Thingyan festival and so people will not made a waste trip down to the restaurant.

After a morning excursion navigating around the lake, hot and hungry, I was ready to find a comfortable cafe to have a decent lunch. Found this gem by the lake ☕️. So 1st world pampering for me. Lovely place to end my walk.

We stumbled upon this gem as we were strolling through Kandawgyi park this morning. Garden Bistro serves great dim sum, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The staff at this establishment t displayed an impressive grasp of the English language as well. To access this Bistro, we walked towards the park through the east exit of the Shwedagon pagoda, and walked on the boardwalk. We are grateful to have chanced upon the Garden Bistro.

The staff was very nice and professional. The cheese pastas were very tasty! (After 10 days in Myanmar it was amazing!) I also recommend salads made with fresh products. Thank you again!
