A fantastic ambience with lovely garden area. The food is of good quality at very reason prices. Would definitely return should I revisit Korea.

My daughter and I had the royal dinner on Thanksgiving evening. I chose Pil Kyung Jae over other locations due to its traditional lovely garden setting. I was hoping to be able to walk around the garden before dining. However it was dark and cold in late November so walking around the garden did not happen. Since we were 2... More

After a very long day of meetings we came to this restaurant. As a first time visitor to Seoul our hosts brought us here for the experience. We were not disappointed. The food and service were fantastic.

During my last visit to Korea My brother took me to Philkyungjae which he talked about years. It took my by surprise. I felt like I stepped in to 500 years ago in Royal family. The ambiance and food you must try in Korea. It is housed in a 500-year-old building that was once home to descendants of Prince Gwangpyeong... More

Beautiful atmosphere with fantastic traditional royal cuisine. It was lunch time when we visited in June and soon after the 600 years old Korean traditional house was filled. Famous Bossam Kimchi(wrapped kimchi bowl in its own juice) was served in a small size and you needed to pay for extra $25 per serve if requested refill. It is very expensive... More

this restaurant entrance is already spectacular; we were guided to our "private room" and after taking out our shoes we were sited in a very Korean style leaving room; the menu has 18 dishes and is very surprising; the staff is smiling and discrete; one side note: the menu is in English but the staff do not speak, you must... The location has a great deal of history. The gardens and home deserve a visit in themselves. We ordered a traditional Korean meal that served around 18 plates, so be prepared to eat (needless to say I was unable to try all the dishes). We visited in a large group of 20 people and the atmosphere felt cozy.

Phil Kyung Jae was originally built as the residence of a royal descendant in the 1400’s. They supposedly recreate the ancient family recipes and serve authentic court cuisine which consists of many small courses, so many that I lost count. Whether authentic or not, the service, surroundings and food were all excellent. We were a large party of about 50... More
