Went here with our friend and his cousin after a trip to Karnak shopping. Truly Egyptian food and lots of it. Ended up with a doggy bag for the left overs rather than waste it. Roasted chicken, pigeon, shwarma chicken and kofta, choppy salad, tahina, baba ganoush and bread and drinks. Very in-expensive. Le 400 pounds including tip for 4... More

I don't understand how this place could get so many good reviews---just had dinner here after having it recommended by our guide and had an utterly revolting meal of badly cooked, fatty lamb, dull soup, inedible chicken, and sandy flat bread for $50 for three adults and two kids---it was so awful we actually discussed stopping at McDonald's on the... We eat out regularly at local Egyptian restaurants. This place was recommended by an Egyptian friend as he knows we love Egyptian food. But we got so ripped off by them! We will never go there again. Normally, in the local Egyptian cafes / restaurants we go to, it's clear whether local salad or rice or potatoes are included in... More

That I see folks rating ice cream parlors, bars, and hotel restaurants higher than Oum Hashim causes me a bit of dispair. Flat out, this is one of the best places I have ever eaten. Period. The secret is to go with a local. We went with a tour guide who we invited to lunch at a place of his... More

The food at Oum Hashem Restaurant is very good, especially the mixed grill, which is filling. Good to share meals.

Authentic Egyptian food such as stuffed pigeon and grilled meats and is where the locals gather to eat. Complimentary salad, bread and humus dips supplied prior to your meal. Good prices and good food recommend this for quick meal.

Great place to eat Egyptian food. All dishes come with a side salad, breads and a variety of dips. The roasted chicken and the kabab were excellent. You can eat all what you want at a reasonable price. I would recommend for anyone to visit it!

Egypt is famous for its kabab and kafta ( grilled meat). This is a very good restaurant and the prices are very reasonable. It is situated in a very local area in Luxor. Don't be afraid of appearances, food is clean and good. Both kids ( 4 and 6) ate the food and we were okay.
