Visited in November for up-teenth time, with friends. Though the service is somehow lacking, the food is amazing. Chilli crab is to die for. There is an option for in-shell and off-shell. In-shell portions are enormous, couldn't finish, took dogie bag home. Please note -...More

Tamambo almost had me dancing, what with all the tasty explosions in my mouth, I needed to let it out in a dance or something! Everything I ate was divine. From my starters to my mash potato and chicken main course to my mix dessert....More

After many years visited Tamarind in Karen and it was nostalgic and the food exceptional! Excellent service and the chilli crab is my favourite! Pricey but well worth the money.

Such a shame aa regulars at this restaurant that when we rang up to book a table at 4:23pm for 7pm on arrival there was NO booking. The waiters forgot a few things. The crab cakes had shells in them and were far too spicy...More

Fresh seafood, excellent cooking, efficient service and ambiance in the environment are the ingredients to this successful establishment. Only real downside is the non-inclusion in Google maps of the transfer to new location in Karen from previous one in Nairobi which set us back at...More

Hi Tamarind is approximately 15 kms from Palacina, and depending on the traffic should only take 30 - 45 mins.

Hi, dinner per person is approximately US$50
Our last night in Nairobi is December 31. We catch a flight at 1:30 am on the 1st. Will you be open for New Years eve? We are celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary in Kenya (December 28th) and this will be our last evening. We are wondering 1) if you will be serving dinner that evening 2) how far are you from the Eka Hotel or Ole Serini 3) Would you take a reservation in advance for a dinner reservation for that evening at 8:00 pm? Thanking you in advance for your assistance, regards, Barbara King

Nairobi's iconic seafood restaurant which originally opened in August 1977, has recently moved from the Central Business District to the leafy suburbs of Karen at the Karen Blixen coffee Garden. The menu is a blend of the best of French, Asian and African cuisines with specialties such as the famous Prawns Piri Piri, and Chilli Crab which have earned the Tamarind worldwide fame.
