What a find, about halfway up or down depending which way your going on escalator, just down the street is this lovely little restaurant, I think in the 6 days we have been here this is the best meal we have had yet. We had set menu which gave you a choice of entree and main and we shared a... More

Others in our small family party felt that the food was good, and produced some really clear flavours. First impressions count a lot for me, and if these aren't right, then things quickly go down hill. We were shown to a table, but due to the freezing air from the overhead conditioning unit, asked for an alternative before even sitting.... More

We were a group of eight, we ordered a variety of dishes from the menu. The food was good, the flavour was good, the sauces that accompanied were full of flavour. The portion on the other hand for the price, in my opinion isn't justified. The potatoes you have to dust of the salt, if not its too salty. The... More

We were walking around mid levels area and checking out menus. The menu of Cicada appealed to all of us. Busy but we only waited about 5 minutes for a table. Ordered 6 items off the menu and all were very good. Fun and busy. We'd go again.

Visited twice October 2016. The set lunch is very reasonable and very good. Happy hour prices in the afternoon are also very reasonable. The prices for the tapas in the evening appeared to be quite expensive, by comparison. Perhaps this is to be expected in Hong Kong. Service excellent.

We were in Hong Kong for a stopover with nothing plan as to where to eat, and walked into Cicada based on menu options and lunch specials. We were blown away by the quality of the food! Portions were ample, more than expected for "sharing plates". We had rich curry &roti, pumpkin, lentil and spinach curry with jasmine rice and... More

We had planned to eat at a more well known place in Soho but that had a wait of an hour or more. Which was lucky or we wouldn't have found Cicada. Amazing food, lots of small plates, great combo of Asian with plenty of spicy dishes. Affordable cocktails, that doesn't mean nasty, it means good and you can afford... More

We visited this restaurant on Oct 27, 2016, after reading good reviews on Tripadvisor. It is run by the Enotica group, which includes Enoteca, the Parish, Iberico & Co, and the Phoenix. It was relocated from Shelly St next to the escalator, and is now next door to Enoteca, which makes it extremely convenient as you can order from menus... More

We used to love this restaurant when it was on the Escalator and it was a pleasure to see it reopened on Elgin. We have used it twice in the passed couple of weeks for lunch using set menu. There is always a good and varied choice of dishes and the price includes unlimited fruit tea which is very refreshing.... More

We took 5 dishes for two; vegetable rolls, tuna, duck dumplings, tofu cakes and fresh mango sushi with caramel dip. It was amazing! Each better than before! And dessert crowned our meal! Really friendly place with reasonable prices. I really can recommend this place! 5 dishes and two beers; 551 HKD

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
