The wait for a table will not be a short one, but having classic dim sum in a restaurant that sits hundreds is an experience worth having at least once. The food is good and service is friendly and prompt.

Been here before and loved it but a little disappointed this time. Knew we would have to queue got in at 2.30 but really winding down service. Lots of things not available. Had to reorder many times! However did get nice pork buns. View lovely but I think the restaurant has become a victim of it own success.

The queues here are horrendous and you can wait quite a while. You have 2 options: arrive early and queue for 30 minutes or book online. The queuing system will let you be about 15 minutes late (they count tables missed). There are links from their website. Alternative you could go against the tourists and find other people to join... Having a table of 12 allowed us to get a table in five minutes, instead of waiting for one hour. We had a range of dim sum, all the steamed items were fantastic. The roast pork was disappointing, I would avoid ordering that. Our bill came to HK$2700 which is very reasonable for 12 people.

Maxim's Palace is a must do for travellers and locals alike. It's the typical dim sum restaurant in a grand decor of chandeliers, white table clothes all within a gigantic room with huge windows next to the Hong Kong harbour. The food is excellent, you simply sit down and wait for the traditional Dim Sum ladies to walk by with... More

Was only in Hong Kong for two days and wanted to get a real Dim Sum experience. Was recommended here by several locals. After a tricky time finding this location (there are several Maxims) we took a number and didn't have too long of a wait for a table for two. Was later in the day so that helped with... More

This is where you go for dim sum in a rolling cart. It is loud and crowded and everyone dining is happy.

Recommended by hotel. Not bad to experience and taste the true Hong Kong Dim Sum at an affordable price. Huge hall and yet second time I was there, you still need to queue at least half hour or so. Good food with the traditional Dim Sum carts with food which I love. You just need to call out for the... More

Maxim's Palace in City Hall does not open until 11am, but people line up before then to get a table for dim sum. The carts are a bit slow in coming because of the volume of people vying for the same delicacies; however, Hong Kong people are not inhibited to walk to the carts and pick what they want. The... Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
