Food was v.v.overpriced and nothing was up to standard. We have been going for years but food quality has been decreasing while cost sky rocketed. v.v. disappointing old standards included char siew bao were terrible

I am not sure what is the fuss about this place. Maybe ordering from a cart is an attraction. The dim sum is OK but not standout. We tried a good range of dim sum but at the end of the day, nothing really stood out for us. Given that this place charges more than many others for dim sum,... More

Well, if you are Lucky enough to come to HK, this is the place you should not miss. My partner and I got there on recommandation from the hotel. Because it is in the City/concert Hall building we nearly missed it. Thought we got something wrong. Went to the 2nd floor. 10:45 on monday, people were queuing so we realised... More

Our HK friends chose this restaurant since it is one of the only restaurants in HK that still uses dim sum carts, a dying practice they say! The place is HUGE, it was Sunday so there was a line of people and the tables were full. Our friends had a reservation and got some special treatment so we got in... More

We always eat at Maxim's everytime we are in HK. So many choices and all good. I love the ambiance, crisp white linens and glass chandeliers. The view is great, too. We like to be early and enjoy our brunch before the place fills up and the line gets impossibly long. Then the (senior citizen) ladies who wheel the carts... More

It is a typical chinese restaurant. We went there for dinner and we ordered a few dishes. The portion is quite big. The price is reasonable. Waiters are ok.

Was recommended by several friends to try the dim sum at Maxims Palace despite the long queue - it was definitely worth the wait. We waited for only 30 minutes even though our queue number was 100+ numbers after the current one as many people take a number and decide not to wait after a while! The best dish I... More

The wait for a table will not be a short one, but having classic dim sum in a restaurant that sits hundreds is an experience worth having at least once. The food is good and service is friendly and prompt.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
