The smell and aromas in the air around Little India are amazing and cant be described in text. Just go and explore the area, we were there on a Sunday and it was extremely busy.
The market seems totally unorganised and chaotic on the ground level, but we tried the food and it was delicious.
Upstairs is what I'd describe as a clothing market and less busy.
A great experience and not expensive.
Big tip, avoid the toilets and find one somewhere else, they are not the best and I'll leave it at that

The wet market has come a long way since my time as a child living in Singapore. The addition of food centre selling a variety of favourite local dishes makes the market a unique and an exciting place to visit for tourists to get a better taste of the day to day morning activities of the locals. Enjoyed the food and very reasonable prices.

Great place for Indian food and local drinks. I love to venture further into the Chinese/non-halal side. The yong tau foo stall serves delicious and fresh food and loved the service the young couple provides. You can get some pretty good snacks too.

Overall the food at the Tekka centre is very good, they have a large variety of food in many different stores, the prices here are also extremely cheap and good value. However the food court is in disgusting conditions. People smoking indoors, dirty tables, animals like rats and cockroaches in eating areas and also people spitting and blowing snot in sinks used to wash plates and many more. Although the food is very good and also comes at an amazing price I can not get over the conditions and hygiene problems.

Popped in for some lunch on our 4th day in Singapore, having eaten and drunk at a number of different places (including Maxwell Hawker centre in Chinatown and places in Boat Quay) and this was hands down the best for taste and value.
A colourful and busy place, with the food market and clothes stalls above, there is a mix of all cuisines, with some areas feeling very similar to other Hawkers, but there was a middle area which felt a bit busier and had a number of curry and chapati style places that we were looking for.
Whilst very British in choosing the ‘non spicy’ option of Butter Chicken with 2 plain naans, from Delhi Lahori, it was so tasty, with the naans fresh from the oven, and a bowl
of tandoori chicken and plenty of sauce to make best use of the naans. Watching the other food coming out it was a mix of curry and breads and meat fresh from the tandoor - with everything looking and smelling amazing. $24 for 4 portions and $8 for some fresh ice lemon drinks (from the adjacent drinks vendor) made a satisfying and filling lunch for all (for under £20)!

Anytime family or friends are in town we make sure we take them to Tekka and those returing ask to go.
Heavily Indian however don't miss amazing non Indian stalls like Whampoa Prawn Noodles, which has been in business for several generations and rightly so.
Our go do to Indian stall is Dehli Lahori.
Many other great stalls to chose from, these are simply two that stand out.

Being situated in Little Indian naturally you should expect this hawker center to be predominantly Indian food which it is with a few non Indian stalls in there too.
We found a few great stalls and had some great Indian at great prices.
Well worth a visit and cheaper than Newton Food Center which is a 5mins drive away.

We were visiting Little India during Deepavali and went to Tekka Centre for an Indian lunch.
At Michelin recommended 01-266 Delhi Lahore we had the tandoori chicken, shish kebab, garlic naan and Kashmiri naan. All of it came to $17. The food was really good. The Kashiri naan turned out to be a sweet version stuffed with dried fruits and peels. They also take credit cards, which is very unusual for a Hawker stall.
We came back to Little India to look at the Deepavali lights and decided to go back to the same stall. This time we had the tandoori chicken, butter chicken set and garlic naan and it was $13. We also tried the mutton murtabak ($8 for a medium) at the adjacent 01-267 Syed Mee and Prata Place - it was great.
The only criticism is that the Centre uses a lot of disposable plates, bowls and utensils.
We will definitely be coming back to eat at these stalls in our next visit to Singapore.

Well! I am foodie and I will go crazy if I see lot of food around. If anyone visits this place, they will land themselves in a food Paradise. The best part is variety of food and the worthiness. Food was warm, aromatic and delicious. Specially Indian food is more available in this hawker center. I went there with a friend of mine and we both were impressed. I would recommend friends pleas ego if you are nearby that area.
Note - Social distancing is little bit challenging here due to small space and lot's of people. So please consider this fact.

Its call Haji Johan 01-254. Big pieces, value fot money tasty enough to be good. Give it a try if you like indian rojak, a uniquely singaporean dish.
What else is good, Alauddin's Bryani, Chin Seng Wanton Mee.
The wet market is fantastic and this is in the heart of Little India.

Delhi Lahori Dhaba:
Vibrant dhaba with tasty food. Was here for a weekend lunch and must say, wasn’t disappointed. Tried the latcha paratta, Kashmiri naan and channa masala. All were so good. If you are around this place, these are a must try. They also have chapathi and naan set meal and the portion is good. Recommended.
Hajiah turfan curry and tandoori:
This place had excellent Biriyani and meal combos. Portion was very good. Cheap comparatively and one of the best Biriyani in tekka centre.

I really enjoyed visiting the Tekka Centre’s eating quarter during the evening. On its wet market and other vendors I cannot comment; I neither wanted to visit these nor were they open when I popped in.
The food stalls at the Tekka Centre cater to the whole gamut of gastronomic wishes one might have of the Indian subcontinent. There are Sri Lankan karis and dosa; big, bold flavours of Northern India; and even a few Chinese and Malay stalls dotted about for good, inclusive measure. What I particularly liked was that most, if not all, vendors were preparing a plethora of breads fresh to order in front of customers. Embarrassingly, I don’t know the name of the deep, stone style appliance they were using to do so, but it looked reassuringly rustic and produced some of the best naan I have ever eaten.
Equally, I ordered a ‘fried dal’ (or ‘dal fry’?), something that, despite being from the UK and eating an inordinate amount of Indian food, I had never before heard of. Whilst it didn’t end up tasting altogether different to other dal dishes I often enjoy, I can say it was absolutely fantastic and I regret not jotting down the vendor’s name to give him a shout out (though I attach an image of this devilishly delicious offender should you want to seek out this vendor’s righteous fare). This I wolfed down with the aforementioned naan which was as fresh, hot and sumptuous as man could wish for.
I also tried a ‘chilli chicken’ platter from the Sri Lankan stall, which I very much enjoyed (and ate with my hands in keeping with the locals. This was a new experience for me and facilitated by the large number of adjacent sinks for hand-washing).
What is really good about the Tekka Centre’s vendors is that, although they call out to you in a way that you might expect of Indian food purveyors, they do not do so in an overtly pushy or annoying way; in fact, I found it rather refreshing and welcoming when compared with the aloof vendors of hawker centres focussing primarily on the cuisines of China. Many of the Indian locals, too, pulled up a pew alongside us and made cheerful conversation as they set about devouring their platters.
Word of warning, though — stay away from the vendors shown no love by the locals. Against my better judgement, I tried a butter chicken prepared by a somewhat elderly Malay lady at a largely abandoned stall. This was served cold, making it inedible, but it was also too sweet and lacking in complex flavour. Not to worry, though: nothing at the Tekka Centre costs much and this unfortunate dish did not detract from the spiced delight of the many other morsels consumed. In fact, I think that’s almost what hawker centres are about. You win some, you lose some.

The first thing I noticed was the exotic smell on arriving at the Tekka centre. There is a market behind the food stalls vegetables, raw meat and raw fish, all very interesting but I think when they clean down each day all the guts, blood etc go into the drain and once subjected to 36c and 70% relative humidity serves up this exotic smell. It didn't put me off though! I carefully selected my stall where I chose the mutton masala, khasmiri naan and a cold juice from sugar cane with ginger and lime. The naan was fantastic which I used to absorb all the tasty masala sauce. The mutton was not existent it was just bones!! I don't know if you're expected to eat them but it was pretty hazardous sifting through in the hope of a piece of mutton. Anyway I rate it 4/5 was super tasty loved the experience really did feel like I was in India.
