location is excellent, views toward CBD and Marina Bay Sands. Food was good if somewhat spicier than we were told. Lamb very tender. Service was attentive. Prices a little high even given location. there is a minimum charge of sgd43 pp including drinks which is not...difficult to hit. I would go again just.More

Every course was a delight, from starters to sweet. The Devilled Mas (lamb) was sensational! Splendid roof-top views of Boat Key and City as well. This is not just your average curry shop, and we all thought it was great value for money. I look...forward to enjoying more Sri Lankan food when we visit that island later in the year.More

This is an Indian food restaurant. If it was not for my friend who has lived in Singapore for years, we never would have found the place! So we had dinner. It was a Fiday night, the Boat Quay bellow was absolutely packed, and we...had space and a prime view over the river, beautiful views a breeze on the roof terrace of the restaurant. The food was ok but it was secondary to the overall experience. The reason that I gave it 4* is that the food had MSG in it (like most places in Singapore).More

Came here for dinner as some friends had a nice dinner. Was warned ahead of time, good food though very expensive. I agree with that comment. Consider SGD100 per person including a beer for some food. We ordered exclusively from the Sri Lankan side of...the menu, which was indeed very tasty. Service is alright, and was happy with the dishes. You get a good view from the rooftop which is nice. They are very (un-necessarily) fussy about taking photos... not clear why. They get very angry when photos are taken.More

On Friday 22nd February 2019 – The OCC visited Our Village; Boat Quay For full transparency, see below scores (out of 10). Restaurants must score an average of 7/10 or above to receive the OCC sticker of recommendation. Quality: 7.34 Customer care: 5.83 Value: 5.41...Service: 7.44 Atmosphere: 8 Overall: 6.8 Our Village IS NOT awarded the much-coveted OCC sticker of recommendation as it did not meet the required 7/10 average Our Village is an Indian / Sri Lankan restaurant situated on the 4th and 5th floors of a shop house right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Boat Quay. A major USP of this venue is that the 5th floor is actually the roof which has fantastic views of the Singapore skyline Atmosphere scored highest overall with a very solid 8/10. This was partly due to the location, right in the center of Boat Quay. The restaurant was pretty full. Primarily office workers hungry for spice after a few Friday beers but also a fair few tourists who having stumbled across Our Village during a look around were briskly hurried up the stairs by the staff at the front entrance. That said, the main reason for such a high score was the roof top setting. The views from the OCC table were fantastic, great views of the river, especially at night with the whole skyline illuminated. The service throughout the evening was very good. As a fairly large group of thirsty beer enthusiasts (and one Wino) the OCC can be a demanding bunch when it comes to ordering drinks. We were seated and welcomed quickly and the first round of Kingfisher arrived promptly. Although the restaurant was filling up quite quickly we felt well looked after throughout by the attentive wait staff. Before we move onto the quality of the food, in the name of full disclosure, several OCC members had been to Our Village numerous times prior to the meet as civilians to enjoy a curry with friends. Extreme care was taken not to sway the opinions of the group but reading between the lines we all had high hopes for what we were about to receive. The menu is very large so we munched on poppadoms with some very tasty mint sauce and spiced onions while we waited for Pojack, our latest trialists to order the starters. We ordered A LOT of food, too much to list here but most noteworthy were the samosas. In terms of mains, Our Village offers a varied selection of charcoal kebabs which are served on top of a kind of BBQ at your table. This is quite fun and was met with several ‘Ooh’s and Aaagh’s’ by the group. We ordered the chicken skewers and the lamb skewers. The lamb were enjoyed by pretty much everyone but the chicken split the group fairly evenly down the middle as some enjoyed them but others felt they were a little tasteless. One member remarked they looked like they had been poached rather than BBQ’d. But still worth ordering if not for the theatre alone. Pojack went to town on the rest of the order too. We sampled Chicken Tikka Masala, a Rogan Josh, some Gobi Aloo and Daal as well as a lamb vindaloo and my personal favorite of the evening a chicken vindaloo. Naan breads were served nice and hot and were a great accompaniment to the main dishes. Although the quality score of 7.34 is respectable it is worth noting that the members who had visited previously had mentioned that the food was not as good as on previous visits. Because of the location, it is perhaps fair to expect a slightly higher price tag for Our Village. But taking that into account and offsetting against the quality of the food we ordered the members in attendance have all scored value quite low. The bill is also quite confusing as at the end of the meal we were presented with 2 separate bills. This was far from ideal for a large group paying with a mixture of cards and cash and not a great way to end a meal. Whilst the wait staff looked after us very well, we have scored customer care very low as we were denied our traditional end of meal photo with the chefs and staff. It was explained to us that this is the owner’s policy but it left a sour taste in our mouths that even the sweetest mango lassi could not remove. In summary, the location of Our Village is great and we would highly recommend sitting on the roof if you are going. The food is pretty good although the signature kebabs did not blow us away. The service is very good but expect to pay a premium. We paid about S$90 per person, an amount we have paid before but in this instance we didn’t feel this was particularly good value for the overall experience. So if you want a decent curry with a great atmosphere in the CBD and don’t mind paying a little extra for it you may want to give Our Village a try…But you won’t see an ‘OCC approved’ sticker in the window this year If you enjoyed this review please follow us on Trip Advisor, check out our other reviews and check back each month for the latest on the Singapore curry scene! 2More

The quality of the food is not bad but neither is in my top 50 of Indian restaurants. Nevertheless, we had five starters, five main courses with rice and bread plus papadums and five beers. The total was SGD453 or over 50 quid a head...which by far the most expensive curry I have ever had anywhere in the world. Not somewhere I will be returning to in a hurry!More

I took a dozen colleagues for dinner. The food was well received by everyone. Some of the best Indian food I have had. One of my Indian colleagues gave it the thumbs up. The location (i.e. the roof) was really nice. A pleasant Singapore evening...with views over the quay. The service was great. Very friend and proficient.More

Good, Indian sub-continent food, if a little pricey. The roof terrace is, of course, the only place to be. However, three things to note: Booking is essential, as it is very popular Precisely where you sit will determine whether or not you get a good...view across the quay. The chairs are rock hard, unpadded wood and, as I discovered, the management do not offer seat cushions, even on request.More

We are going to Singapore every year and the Our Village has been always our favorite Indian restaurant. The view on the roof top is spectacular and the food is (still) excellent. However, we have decided not to there any more. In recent years the...portions became smaller and smaller while the prices went significantly up. Singapore is indeed an expensive place, nevertheless we get much more value for money at other places.More

This place offers a wide ranging menu. The curries are at a good spice level, not too weak and not too spicy that is blows your head off. My girlfriend has a allergy to fish and seafood. Staff were more than happy to accommodate this....The staff are friendly and attentive. Plus it offers great views over Boar Quay. Would defiantly come back again.More

I came here 5 years ago and it wasnt memorable but when we popped back on Saturday was v pleasantly surprised - the food was great and service was v attentive if a little slow. The lamb rogan josh was fantastic - lovely tender meat...- and all the veggy dishes were lovely. The fish curry was a real disappointment - but willing to overlook that. The only other negative were all the hidden costs - we received two bills, one for the main meals and one for extras which is disingenuous? - why not just add a few dollar to the main dishes? or a cover charge Will be back - just a bit more wary next timeMore

Have been at Our Village a couple of times over the last 6 months. The meal today (Thursday) was the most disappointing North Indian meal I‘v ever had. Bland, watery and meat not cooked long enough for it become tender. Even back home in Europe...I‘v had much better Indian meals. Shame, because the location on the roof top terrace is greatMore
