This is a quirky place serving the food on banana leaves. It's a roll your sleeves up and get stuck in sort of place. We ordered far too much for one sitting but would do it again because it was so good. Such an extensive menu it's worth trying a little of everything. Mutton Mysore was spicy, fish tikka cooked... Fantastic, brilliant, a truly great eating experience. One of Singapore's many wonderful restaurants but this one has a unique twist on the way your food is served. Put it on your Singapore 'bucket list'.

Authentic and spicy south Indian food. Jaffna-style crabs seem to be popular (didn't try it because it would have been too messy to eat in a hurry). The place is popular and is targeted towards clientele who know what they want. So go with a local r familiarize yourself with how the restaurant works before you go.

We were after some authentic Indian food and this place was it. The service was great, the food was amazing especially the butter chicken I would definitely recommend going here.

First night in Singapore on a recent trip for business and we decided to try the Banana Leaf Apolo. Any restaurant that is full of locals get the nod from me. So there we were looking at a restaurant at capacity and we were prepared to wait. It was worth it. We did not wait more than 10 minutes and... More

This place is super busy because the food is amazing. The staff is not very friendly, they are super busy and they seem rather annoyed at times. Once seated they give you a cafeteria style tray covered in banana leaf. One of the staff members comes around with a pot full of rice and dumps rice on your tray. My... More

Good quality and selection of Indian cuisine with the Fish-head curry being a speciality, great service and decor in the heart of "Little India". A "must visit" for Indian "foodies"

I recently visited the Banana Leaf Apolo restaurant in Singapore, 54 Race Course Rd. I must say that I had an unpleasant experience. Firstly, we never could get a waiter as they showed no interest to attend to our table. Secondly, we were entitled to more than one serving of rice and curry however, the waiters never bothered to attend... More

Staying in Little India

Neighbourhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly coloured saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colourful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Centre, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colourful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
