In Stanley for a few months and visited for an evening meal with friends and family. Steak and Squid the chosen main courses and all excellently cooked with excellent customer service. The restaurant has an excellent layout with ample space between tables. The food is...not unreasonably priced and offers good value.More

Whilst on Holiday with my wife in the Falkland Islands, we ate at the Waterfront three times over two weeks. The food is very, very good and their wine list is also very good. Definitely the high end of eating out in FI. One note...of caution though is that they could do with a few more Vegi dishes. The ones that have are fantastic, but a bit more choice would be very welcome. This is a suggestion, not a criticism :-)More

Pros: Food quality and quantity. Homey atmosphere. Cons: It’s 7,000 miles from home as the crow flies Star Ratings: - Overall: 5 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Quantity: 5 - Dining Room Attractiveness: 5 - Menu: 4 - Service: 4 - Noise: 4 -...Price: 5 - Value: 5 - Parking: 5 - Ambiance: 5 My wife and I were in the midst of a 16 day cruise on Viking from Santiago to Buenos Aires when the ship stopped in Stanley for a one day visit to the Falkland Islands. After a very enjoyable tour to watch the penguins at Bertha’s Beach, we decided to have lunch in town. Since the Waterfront Cafe was highly recommended, that’s where we went. - Location: Hard to miss. The restaurant is on one of the main streets…Ross Road…facing Stanley Harbor and a block away from the spot where tenders for cruise ships leave and pickup passengers. - Exterior: Attractive. The Waterfront seems just how you’d imagine a small town restaurant to look - homey and inviting. Nothing fancy. Pleasant. - Interior: Charming. It’s fairly small, but Stanley is very small itself. There are tables and chairs facing the harbor which, during our early afternoon meal, were bathed in sunlight on what we were told was an unusually nice day. There are a few more tables in this sundeck-type section…plus a couple further back toward food displays and the counter where orders are placed. The overall effect is like a warm blanket. Since the cafe is actually part of a bed and breakfast hotel, a lobby/sitting area is across from the restaurant with stairs leading to the rooms. - Menu: Comfort food with an emphasis on fish. - Food: Home cooking. We both ordered “fish and chips” which came with a side order of peas. It was the best example of that dish we’ve ever had. The fish had perfect texture, breading was tasty, thick sliced potatoes were crisp and the peas were firm and flavorful. The portions were more than enough to tide us over to dinner. A large majority of the display near the counter consisted of baked goods which must have added a few pounds to our girth because we couldn’t take our eyes off them. - Service: Combination of self and waiter service. You review the menu and actual examples of many dishes on a table…place you order at the counter and it gets delivered to your table. - Price and Value: Excellent. Compared to our home state of California, it was a steal. - Bathroom: Didn’t visit. I guess the 2 main types of customers visiting the Waterfront Cafe are locals and cruise passengers in the summer. It’s part of the local community so residents know it by heart. For cruisers, we would highly recommend leaving time for a meal.More

If it's worth doing once, do it twice, thrice and more. That's the Waterfront Kitchen. Great food, a lovely location, excellent service, and a warm friendly atmosphere. We had afternoon tea (twice), a couple of great dinners ( the curries and seafood are amazing, with...the toothfish a real highlight), and tea and cake on a couple of occassions too. So if you judge a place by how often their customers come back, then this place deserves its 5 star rating.More

This quaint old home turned restaurant serves as a wonderful backdrop for a relaxing meal. The old rooms throughout the first floor serve as dinning rooms. Patrons seat themselves as space permits. We were there by ship and found the restaurant well attended but available....Our fish and chip order were promptly served and the local fish, the name of which evades me, was white, tender, and moist. I shared my portion with my wife and it was an ample lunch. Others in our party, two Australians, ate theirs with ease and enjoyed there meal as well. It was interesting to note the beverages, Coke and a Woodpecker cider, were both imported from Great Britain. This place is very close the the dock, a church, and a souvenir shop. Payment was by credit card, but US dollars, the English Pound, and of course other more local currencies are also accepted.More

My understanding is that Wifi is expensive and available via hotels, Certainly it is at the Waterfront as we saw people using it. One of the pleasures of the Falklands for us is the lack of modern communication.
