Yamato has been my favorite Japanese restaurant in Chile for more than 10 years. Unfortunately the restaurant closed for a while due to change of location, but now in its new location in Rengifo 852, it is even better than before. Yamato is not a typical Chilean sushi restaurant with fried rolls containing salmon, avocado and Philadelphia cheese. This is... More

Best Japanese food that we had so far in Chile. We tried the menu and all the dishes were amazing and really tasty. We especially liked the "carpaccio de pescado" (atun, salmon y reineta) - the quality and taste was so good that we just didn't want to stop eating. Staff was very friendly. Price - we found it rather... More

This restaurant was the highlight of my trip to Puerto Montt. Excellent food and good prices. The restaurant is very traditional , since the chef is japanese, and the quality of the seafood is one of the best things about it. They were playing japanese music! I loved it! We had some sushi, sashimi and misoshiru, that were all recommended... More

For me, Puerto Montt has a terrible lack of good restaurants, so this was a surprise. I was invited by a friend to go have dinner to this place run by a japanese. First impression, atmosphere and decor is simple, no fancy japanese details (which I kind of liked, no show off), then I was surprised with the food. The... More

When heading south this is one of your last chances to get some Japanese food. I think Puerto Natales has a place. Argentina doesn't. This is slightly unorthodox Japanese, for example the sashimi is called "carpaccio" and served with a divine sause. The gyoza are as good as you'll find anywhere, the fish is fresh, nice atmosphere, and good service.... More

I've been to all sorts of Japanese restaurants in my life, but very few that are owned and run by an actual Japanese chef. This is the case for Yamato, and the result is truly original Japanese cuisine. I have become a regular customer, and a big fan of the menu items.

Visit just didn't go well. Nicely laid out restaurant, fairly standard Japanese decor. We were welcomed and given a table and menu. Ordered a pisco sour each as there was a 2 for 1 happy hour. Picked one of the 4 types of pisco on offer. After we ordered we were then told there was no sashimi or nigiri. No... More

This has to be the nicest restaurant in Puerto Montt. We ate there very day of our stay (4 lunches). Not the cheapest - but Japanese never is! Must admit - we were a little afraid to try raw fish - as we were recovering from a previous tummy bug problem. The tempura was excellent. We were disappointed with the... More
