Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Although a hotel restaurant, we ate our lunch outside on the terrace overlooking the harbour. Limited menu but great food, beautifully presented, a great choice of shellfish including Puree which is a local delicacy (not for the faint hearted). Very good service.

We enjoyed the dinner on our first night in Valparaiso so much that we came back two days later. Very fine seafood, servings “slightly less enormous “ than in most Chilean restaurants. Unless you are starving, you might still share a starter or a main dish. For a venue specialised in fish and molluscs (wonderful ostiones - scallops), the white wine selection is a bit limited. Waiting staff was impeccable. Regarding outside dining, which is an option, but not compulsory as there is also a nice dining room inside, the view over the port area is even more spectacular than from other eateries in Calle Papudo which have more ugly buildings in front of their terrace. Would definitely return!

This restaurant was our favorite! The food was exquisite and delicious, served on a terrace overlooking the city and harbor. It was one of those meals that you take photos of!! Our waitress, Maureen, was wonderful and attentive. She brought us free appetizers that the chefs wanted us to try. This is an amazing restaurant.

Tucked away down a side street lies the Maralegre restaurant. It is attached to a hotel. The terrace looks over the sea and is a relaxed place to sit. The pisco sours are excellent. Food is centred on fish and shellfish. Cooking is excellent and it is possible to change some of the accompaniments, ie salad for vegetables. Service is wonderful. One of rte waitresses used a translation app as dis we. At times it was hilarious.

Beautiful sea view and good customer service. We thought the amount of food served was little so if you are Brazilian you will go hungry here 😂! Buuuut it is a super sophisticated restaurant and it’s the best meat that I’ve ever tasted. The drinks were great.

Simple but quite good menu. Excelent presentation. Medium serrvice. Waited too long to be served. Nice terrace if there is no wind. Overpriced.

Sept 2019 family
We were looking for a nice dinner place for a small family dinner (for 3). We looked at reviews and decided to go find this place since it as within walking distance of our Airbnb. I have to say it’s tucked in on a quiet street so we didn’t think we were in the right place (no traffic). When we found it we noticed the door was just barely cracked open, so we looked inside to see if they were open. There was no one at the front reception desk but we could see just one couple eating dinner outside. The place was beautiful but clearly we were not sure if it was open. We stepped inside and waited a bit for someone to notice us. When they did, they asked if we had a reservation. We said no. They seated us outside on the beautiful patio overlooking the bay/port area. It was beautiful and the seating was perfect. Our waiter spoke broken English and the service was top notch. The food was equally as good a bonus for me was the outdoor portable heaters. I would highly recommend this place. Pricey but worth it.

The dining room looked out over the patio and pool below and toward the port. We had one dinner there when we shared a crab appetizer and had their white fish (shark?) and ravioli with rabbit. We shared a chardonnay from Casablanca Valley. The service was excellent, and the dinner seemed a bit “precious” to us. Other restaurants were a few “blocks” away in the Concepcion Cerro. We found a local sandwich shop there and shared a huge chacarero sandwich!

Dinner can be taken on the terrace, which is heated if the weather is cold and its lovely to enjoy a higa sour whilst enjoying the view. The food was mainly very good and some elements were excellent.. A little amuse- bouche came first - tasty and fishy. Annoyingly the vegetarian main course was not available but we enjoyed red prawns with avocado - it was rich, well seasoned and satisfying. Sea bass ceviche was citrusy and a tad sharp although nicely offset by pumpkin balls looking like tiny arancini. The condor eel was pronounced only ok, and not as good as that enjoyed by the sea on Easter Island. We shared a beautifully presented ice cream dessert to finish. With a reasonable bottle of Chilean white the bill was around £70, including a cocktail. Competent but not great cooking and not bad value for money.

Out on the terrace with working docks in the distance. The dining room like the hotel (see my separate review) is perched on a hillside overlooking the bay and port. Only a few covers, but sadly so few staff the service felt slow and inattentive service. Good table at the edge of the terrace. Shortish carte with less fish than expected given this is a port. Excellent small red prawn starter and smaller crab dish (cluttered with two large stones and empty shells) the main courses were disappointing. Very friendly staff - but not enough. Better than others but not as good as the promise. Our last dinner before heading back to Santiago and we just loved everything about this restaurant. We were warmly greeted and asked if we would like to dine inside or out. We chose outdoor under a clear sky with heating that was just right. Our waitress spoke English and made us feel special. She discussed the menu with us and answered all our questions. We then decided on a fish and steak meal that were both delicious with a very nice recommended bottle of red wine. They also offer a good selection of gluten free options including gf bread. A must visit if you are looking for a great meal and special night out.
