We came here as a couple on a Saturday night. We did not have a reservation, but didn’t have to wait long for a table (5 minutes). First off, the night time skyline view of Quito is phenomenal. Between the two of us, we ordered the burrito, nachos, and coconut shrimp. They have a nice selection of local and international dishes. After having only eaten empanadas and other small snacks throughout the trip, this was our first real meal, and it did not disappointment. I was especially impressed with the shrimp. The taste was just perfect. The portions were also very large, and so it was great value. The service was mediocre. We had to go up to our server a few times to ask for him, rather than him checking in on us to see if there was anything else we needed. Needless to say, they were also serving a large table of 20+ people beside us, and so perhaps he was a bit overwhelmed. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant

My family and I love Cafe Mosaico. We spent a little over one week in Quito and made a point of eating here 2-3 times. The view is out of this world! The food is excellent. It's the cost of a typical meal in the United States--so not expensive at all considering the ambiance and view. We loved that Alex & his partner rescue dogs. The restaurant is dog friendly and the dogs that they've rescued lounge around. The restaurant is very clean and the dogs keep to themselves, but it's nice to see what they've done for the street dogs that otherwise wouldn't have food or shelter.
Be sure to make a reservation. The second floor patio has the best views. We can't recommend the restaurant enough and look forward to returning!

We visited on a busy night in December 2021, we thought we'd have to eat inside but were accommodated with an outside table overlooking the city! It was so pretty looking over the city. Enjoyed our food and hot rum drinks! The service was great and loved that they are so dog friendly. So happy we found this spot! A favorite stop on our Ecuador trip!

Highly disappointing. I've been here several times now, and I likely won't be coming back. The good view and generally nice atmosphere made this restaurant tolerable in the past, but my last visit left me extremely disappointed.
The food is awful. There were NO covid safety precautions during a time when Quito ICUs are full again, and service left a lot to be desired.
I ordered the grilled chicken breast, and aside from an ok seasoning on the chicken, the rest of the very pricey dish was not what I ordered or inedible.
I specifically asked if the dish came with fries, pointed to the Hamberello (portobello "hamburger" my friend had ordered that had said fries), and the waitress assured me it did (with several witnesses confirming I was clear with my question). However, I was served boiled potatoes which had no flavor. The waitress, recognizing her mistake offered to change the potatoes, but warned me it "would be a WHILE" and I had already waited quite some time, so I declined, but first bite into my boiled potatoes and I regretted my decision.
They had obliged my request to switch the cheese sauce that normally comes on the potatoes for guac since I have a dairy allergy, but the guac tasted sour, and not in a good, lime and zest kind of way.
Finally, the salad was completely inedible. I never leave food, especially if overpriced. However, I actually had to discreetly remove a biteful of tomato from my mouth because it tasted so bad. The lettuce could have been several weeks old, the tomatoes cut days before, the large chunks of raw onion didn't help the matter, and the shredded carrots were browning already. The only edible part of the "salad" were 3 tiny chunks of avocado. It also came with no seasoning/vinaigrette or dressing of any kind.
My drink, a canelazo, was too sweet, bitter at the same time, and generally flavorless. The only resonating flavor was very strong cheap puntas (cheapest alcohol you can get).
Lastly, the surprise cover charge, despite only going for about an hour, during which the band was mostly taking a break (I heard maybe 5 songs total), was a rather unpleasant surprise.
When I communicated my displeasure with the wait staff charging me upon my departure, the man just apathetically said "he would let his boss know".
$25 for a chicken breast, 5 very small boiled potatoes, an inedible salad, a large spoonful of old guac and a severely overpriced, tasteless canelazo is the same you can pay for a main at a 5 star restaurant in Quito.
My recommendation, go anywhere else.
I work in tourism and not only know what it takes to offer good food to my guests, but have guided several groups to many great restaurants around the city.

Make fame and go to bed...the worst customer service of my trip to Quito. We sat down ourselves and had to ask who was going to be the one taking our order after almost 20 minutes of wait. The place ambience is okay, if you are a dog lover like me you will have the opportunity to eat at an over-rated restaurant surrounded by 5 dogs resting inside the dinning area in their respective beds. On such an Avant- Garde experience I had the hope to be able to enjoy an Ecuadorian cigar in their full size terrace where we were seating at, unfortunately smoking is not allowed in their "special" terrace....what? .... Waiter brought an ashtray and in a very rude way demanded to put out our Ecuadorian cigar. Food is terrible. They offer an eclectically - reduced, limited, tasteless menu. What does a Mexican taco has to do with a Thai dish in the heart of Quito?
Last and most important, it started to rain and staff hermetically closed every single window in the huge terrace. In the middle of this pandemic we were left with no ventilation surrounded by several other people. Conscious less staff decided to close every single window in the terrace. I don't recommend this restaurant and I will never go back.

Absolutely amazing, Might be the best view from any restaurant I've ever been to. Food was outstanding. i had a shrimp and rice dish that was excellent. Even the little salad that came with it was great. Hot chocolate for dessert was the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Definitely a must do in Quito!

Cafe Mosaico gets a lot of love here on TA, and it should, FOR THE VIEW, because the view is spectacular.
However, anyone expecting anything more than at best average pub food with some Ecuadorian dishes thrown in is going to feel let down. It really is...just okay.
Wife and went there on a sunny afternoon that turned into a rainy afternoon and then sunny again (Quito!). The restaurant was not busy. Our server was good and brought us drinks quickly and took our order when were ready. We got olives as an entree (aka app). My wife ordered a grilled cheese and I ordered "griddled" shrimp w/ assorted dipping sauces.
The olives were good of course. Hard to get that wrong! The other food? My shrimp were breaded and fried instead of griddled, but there were a lot of them (too many) and if you like breaded fried shrimp, you will be happy. I am okay with fried shrimp but I wanted the griddled. I did not bother to send back because I did not want them to be thrown out.. I don't think the marinara it was supposed to come with ever showed up, but the BBQ was pretty good. Putting aside that it was the wrong thing, it was okay, like "sitting at a bar watching football" okay.
My wife's grilled cheese was in fact not a grilled cheese. It was a cheese sandwich. There was no browning on the bread or melt on the cheese. At all. She ate maybe half of it.
We didn't send that back either. Why bother? We went there for the view. It is all about the view.

Wonderful evening, tasty food, great canelazos, amazing view and great service. Relaxed, casual atmosphere, interesting mixed menu... choose from something with a local flavor, or go vegetarian, or choose from a list of about 15 or more hamburgers and sandwiches.

My first impression of this place was that the dogs are more important than any client that could walk in there to spend their money. We were fiercely warned that this was a ‘pet friend’ restaurant and that the dogs were free to roam around. I said: ‘fair enough, but if we do not want the dogs around our table, shall we leave then?’ At the end of the day, we were there to spend our money. I found the waiters extremely rude and arrogant. They did not care about our children. It is most definitely not a child friendly restaurant. We asked for some colours or even a pen, they said they did not have any colours, and though the waiter had a pen in his hand, he refused to lend it to our children for a couple of minutes. The views are lovely, but costumer service is non-existent. I also made a review on Social media, and they erased the comments. They just want good reviews, so they invite 'influencers' to write good things about the place, but I am afraid they should train their staff so they can provide good costumer service. Awful.

First off - come here for dinner to watch the sunset. We came on a Sunday night about 1 hour before sunset and walked right up to the tables along the railing and had our pick of every one. Not sure if that's normal? We ordered our food, which came out fast so we ate slow to take in the views. We both chose some local fare and both options we good and flavorful and also prepared well. The true gem of the meal, though was the views. Amazing sweeping views of a huge portion of the city with the sun setting over the mountains to the west. Absolutely fantastic.

The meals are too expensive compared to other restaurants in Quito. However, the food is good and there is an entire menu for vegans and vegetarians. I ordered a plate with rice, chickpea stew, plantains, and salad. The view here is incredible! Make a reservation because the tables with the best views fill up quickly.

“The place, the decor and the atmosphere in general are good, but the food is terrible. The cappuccino had poor quality milk and the burger had tasteless meat and the bread was blasted. It was a terrible experience.”
If you want any other adjustments, let me know.

This spot is great for the views, however service is non existent. I tried the ponche, which was nice. The food is average. There are dogs everywhere, which I found uncomfortable as they wonder and sniff around, which I find anti-hygienic. The fact that it is 'pet-friendly' should not mean that the dogs should disturb other guests. The waiters are rude and do not have any hospitality training

A local friend took us to Mosaico tonight for dinner.
Positive vibes are set as soon as you walk in the door with a wall dedicated to the love and respect of animals especially dogs.
The food was wonderful. Lots of veggie options and dishes foreigners enjoy.
Our server could have been more personable but no biggie.
Would visit again next time in Quito.
And the view! Gorgeous day or night.
And the owner was right, they DO have the best brownies!!
Thank you for the comp!

There were 2 other tables when we arrived. We sat forever with menus - had to call the waitress to order. Never once came to the table without being called - got the order wrong. The terrible service took the shine off the view and the food for sure. Other options with good views - avoid this place.
