Simply the best. After 3 weeks in Ecuador this is the meal that me and my friend consider the best. Fresh, excellent seasoning and perfectly prepared. Plenty and great price.

We tried there the Ecuadorian dish Corvina for lunch. The whole atmosphere at the Mercado Central is just great. We mixed up with locals around the clean stainless tables. The portion was large and we shared it as a couple. We both loved it. The...Corvina was perfectly prepared and served quickly. I can only recommend this place for a great lunch experience.More
snob locals underestimate this place, they dont want to be seen or mention " i went to mercado central for lunch " my opinion, this place is very good , starting with underground safe parking , is a market with all this little places that...sell all kinds of dishes just like in Philadelphia, New york, L.A. vendors trying to capture your attention offering their specialities and telling you funny things. good seasoning, value and clean.More
Both were very fresh and expertly prepared. The atmosphere was friendly and fun. A must stop for seafood. Excellent price for the value and quantity. Michael & Shirley
First of all, it's not cheap: fried fish with rice or potatoes and a small "ceviche" costs 6$. You can get a similar meal for lunch in Quito for half the price. Secondly, there is nothing special about the food. The fish was soft and...tasteless. You don't even realize it's fish. It is filling, but that's it. I have no idea why people rate it so well. I wouldn't recommend to come here. Go elsewhere for a menu del día, pay less and be more satisfied.More
While traveling through Quito the Galapagos, Don Jimmy had one of my wife's favorite meals. She loved their fried whitefish, as did I, and especially love that it was so cheap. Our two meals with a drink were around $10. We also grabbed some fruit...at another vendor while we were there.More
Really enjoyed the fish. Ate there more than once because of fish and value. Served like a restaurant in the middle of the market. Very authentic, Ecuadorian environment. Our walking tour ended at this market. Great place for lunch. Nice people. We ate there so...much, they gave us a souvenir cup! Definitely worth a visit.More
This central market was one of the cleanest that we’ve visited on our travels. Several restaurants are set up in a food-court style setting with metal picnic tables. The fried corvina from Don Jimmys was excellent and enough for two of us to share. Beware,...all the workers from the different restaurants were the same uniform and will try to sell you food/drinks from their stall. We ordered our food from Don Jimmys, but our drinks from the restaurant next door. The waitresses got into a minor verbal spat with each other which was interesting to watch. Great fish lunch for 7 bucks! We then walked (daylight) to climb the Basillica about 15 minutes away.More
Delicious fish and cevice and a very generous portion. Staff is super friendly and helpful! Nice place to eat.
The site is not very comfortable, many people come to ask for money and want things, but the fish is one of the best I've ever tasted.
This is a good and cheap option Food is good and abundant Price is very convenient It is good to stop for at least 1 time
Corvina is my favorite fish. This restaurant advertises that the fish is Corvina. When the fish was delivered I knew by looking at it that it was Dorado, not Corvina. I dislike Dorado. When asked, “Is this Corvina?” the waitress said, “No, we don’t serve...Corvina.” WHAT?More
The name of Corvina Don jimmy is not because we have served Corvina, but because of our history. In 1963, Delia Vilcahunao started with CORVINA, but the price started to increase. She decided to change the fish. Here, in Ecuador, the Corvina fish is very...More
We stopped by the market and enjoyed a delicious sea bass meal. It was cooked well and accompanied well. Excellent value at 6 USD
The food here is really superb, the seabass dish comes breaded and deep fried, with a little portion of clamps ceviche and rice. It is tasty tasty!!! The Mercado Central food court is unmissable on a visit to Quito!
This is not a restaurant, it is a food kiosk, equivalent to food cart inside the Mercado central a covered area with many such food kiosks. It occupies the end unit. The Covina comes with yellow or their version of ceveche , a soupy dish...with shrimp, interesting... The Covina is fried only, nice crunchy outside tender and moist inside, quite tasty and a good Value $6. very helpful servers, friendly and spent time to get me an off menu cervesa Grande for only $2. will be back. aMore
