Really good food, reasonably priced. Cappuccino with amaretto was delicious. Staff are really friendly too. Visit the gallery too, some interesting figures!

A good restaurant in a great location, fronting the Plaza San Francisco, with a good patio on the Plaza. Serves good and mainly traditional Ecuadorean food. It is part of a larger enterprise, the Tianguez Cultural Centre, which includes a really good artisans shops with a lot of high quality work and in places an almost museum-like display of arts... Very good display of Ecuadorian artisans. You can buy everything that is on display. Can be caught with tourist groups, time to leave as overcrowded.

Located right in San Francisco square...we sat outside and had an appetizer and a couple cold local beers. The people watching was excellent and the service very good.

I was quite disappointed that this hyped-up restaurant ended up underwhelming on the day I visited. While I'm sure the restaurant must earn its positive reputation in general, it did not do so on the day I visited. The dish I ordered (Seco de Chivo) was served cold with a rather flat presentation. I had to demand the bill several... More

The local dish Quimbolito is served here, it is kind of cake baked in big banana leaf, it goes down very well with a cup of well made coffee.

After mixed reviews, we cautiously tried Tianguez out just to give ourselves a people-watching food break in the historic district. Turned out to be pretty good. Humitas (we got them fried) were amazing. Ceviche quite good. Also potato soup. I tried the local cocktail, a "Drake"--worth a trial, but not to my taste (like a hot toddy made with Campari).... Wonderful location in old town Quito to relax on a warm afternoon. Food was just adequate, artisanal dark ale was an improveme over Budweiser clones down here but that's not hard to do, and our waiter was distracted but not unfriendly.

We returned to this restaurant last month after enjoying a number of meals last year. We thought the food was quite good and the ambience and service great. One year later the situation was the opposite. There is construction going on because there is a subway stop being built under the plaza and that affected the ambience but there are... More

A quick walk from our hotel, we dined here twice during our stay in Quito. The service was lukewarm one night, but great the next. My favorite of the meals I had was the fritada meal (with chicken). The corn mote (sp?) was delicious. The first evening we dined here we split the chocolate cake with ice cream. It was... More
