Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were recommended this place by our tour operator, but it really wasn’t the one for me (or most of the people in our group). I ordered the stuffed meat pepper which was okay, but the potato that it was served with was awful. My...partner ordered guinea pig which is not something either of us will order again. The Peruvian band that appeared once we had sat down was really loud and were essentially busking in the restaurant when you’re trying to relax and eat. I felt like this place was an over priced tourist trap which I’d avoid!More

We had a great time at Ary Quepay, the food was great, we were entertained by a traditional Peruvian band, and the price was very reasonable, also the waiter was very attentive and we were also personally attended to by the owner.

The place is decent but the prices are outrageously high now. The atmosphere was ok. Also they refused to take credit card despite having all the acceptance signs in the window.

My friend and i arrived at the restaurant at 19.00 exactly, expecting a nice meal before heading home early. We arrive, order our food, and everything seems fine. After nearly an hour, our food still has not arrived, and we ask the waiter, who tells...us that our meals will arrive shortly. After ten minutes, another waiter comes down with a salad none of us had ordered. We tell him we didn't order it, and he takes it back into the kitchen. We ask for our food once again, and we're told it will be there in 5 minutes. After five minutes, it still has not arrived. The salad no one ordered (and would've probably been thrown out) is brought to our table as an excuse, but it doesn't taste very well. Then, after more than an hour of waiting, the waiter returns to our table and tells my friend, that they don't have the chicken she ordered, but that she can have beef instead - this is an hour after placing our order! We're both shocked that they are just now finding this out, but she agrees to have the beef, which arrives shortly after. The taste is mediocre, and she starts eating - we are starving at this point. After a while they bring another dish to the table, but once again, it is not what i ordered. Another ten minutes pass before i receive my meal, and at this point, my friend is almost finished with hers. My meal (stuffed peppers with potatoes and cheese) is okay, but when you expect to enjoy a nice meal together and end up eating seperately, the fun really goes away. I proceed to tell the waiter than we are disappointed at the service. Instead of just accepting their mistakes they start to make up a bunch of bad excuses, like the kitchen being busy due to a large group (which is true - however, the group arrived half an hour later than us, and this should not have been a problem, since we were only two people ordering) and that "it usually isn't like this". In cases like this i expect to see some kind of remorse. That wasn't the case, and frankly, they did not seem sorry at all. While we finish eating and wait for our bills, we are ignored by the staff. We pay our food and leave, disappointed and unsatisfied.More

Overall food was acceptable but the attitude and service of the owner was terrible. It looked like it was giving us a favour to provide us food. Experience not to be repeated.

This evening we had dinner at Ary Quipay. We had a good and tasteful meal Peruvian style. The waiter was friendly and spoke to us in Spanish, but we did understand it. While we ate, 3 men came with Indian slyle clothes on with guitar,...panfluiten and made good music. We found a good atmosphere in this restaurant.More

We ate here 2 times over a stay in Arequipa. The musicians are good the first time around, but we went early the next time and had a quiet meal. Friendly staff, you feel welcome. Opens at 6PM. Price reasonable. Stuffed avocado with chicken, cooked...vegetables and mayonnaise is a good choice if you are not to adventurous.More

Service was really poor. They gave to our group drinks with expiration date in the past, and we had to insist to get new ones. Food was average, but not spicy at all although they told us 6/10 for spiciness for this specific dish. Good...and tasty Chicha Morada.More

Their menu features all the specials that you are supposed to eat in Peru, so if that's what you are looking for it's convenient. Not cheap - not super expensive either. Food is fine, nothing special. My rocoto relleno had a huge fly in it....All in all a pretty mediocre experience.More
