The food and place is average at best. It is also very expensive for what it is. I believe this place has been overhyped by well known chefs. The jalea was salty, the ceviche was alright, the only thing that was good was the whole fried fish. I would not be returning to this place nor do I recommend it.... More

Restaurant Sonia is a must visit if you care at all about excellent ceviche and/or incredibly fresh seafood. The restaurant is tucked-away on a tiny street in Chorillos (near Miraflores.) It would be easy to miss if not for the fishing boat parked on the street in front of the restaurant. Sonia has a great atmosphere and an extensive menu... More

Nondescript street, no sign identifying a restaurant but a fishing boat up on the sidewalk. Serving hours 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Knock on brown door to the left of the boat. Delicious sea food priced from about 30 soles to over 100 soles. Grande Pilsen cervesa 16 soles. Certainly a unique experience.

Almost a well-kept secret. Restaurant hides in a small street of Chorrillos. Once you figure out how to park (i.e. part of the overall experience, just do not hit the fishing boat also parked in front...), you knock on the front door and wait to be let in. Door opens on a cozy and clean area reminiscent of a typical... More

yes, this restaurant is somewhat different and more rustic because i believe it has a tradition of bringing fresh fish from the ocean, you get to hear very nice live music performed by local musicians etc...the neighborhood is nice, very near malecon in chorrillos etc... however i personally think it is overpriced. food is good, but nothing out of this... A local friend took us to this amazing hideaway. The seafood was tremendous and the atmosphere was too good to miss.

Our daughter and her friend leaned about this restaurant from Anthony Bourdain's show so we decided to give it a try one late afternoon while in Lima. We arrived within a 15-minute taxi ride along the coast from Miraflores. There is nothing upscale about this place. It is full of colors and local decors. The atmosphere is laid back, charming... We were at the Gold Museum and heading to Miraflores for lunch when our taxi driver suggested Sonia's and we agreed. He dropped us off in front of a wooden, varnished door, but there was no sign, we pushed it open and there was this adorable restaurant with a piano player filling the restaurant with music. The food and service... More

In a backstreet near the main coast road above the cliffs in Chorrillos. Not obvious since often the door is closed and it looks like a garage. Ring the bell. Very very good ceviche. Not cheap by Peruvian standards but clearly a place people go for a bit of a celebration. Really nice atmosphere in the downstairs garden area. Watch... More
