Al Toke Pez is a super casual lunch counter with no more than about 10 seats surrounding an open kitchen. The menu was as simple as could be (very limited selection), but I immediately knew what I wanted to try. We got an order of the ceviche mixto, a mixture of white fish, shrimp, squid, and red onions in a perfectly seasoned lime juice marinade. The ceviche was also topped with crunchy corn nuts, choclo (fresh corn kernels), seaweed, sweet potato, and of all things, chicharron, or fried calamari! Never before have I had calamari with my ceviche, and the salty, crispy pieces of battered squid were a surprisingly amazing complement to the refreshing ceviche! What an amazing dish, and what a great value at just 20 soles for a bowl (about $6 USD)!

I visited this place to get a quick lunch. Its a very simple walk-in, 'whole in wall' restaurant/bar visited by locals..I paid 20 soles for the Combo which included ceviche, fried rice and squid and glass of chicha mirada. All was very tasty and fresh. Staff were very friendly. The cook speaks some English. Only criticism, and reason I am giving it a 4 and not a 5, was that the place was a bit grubby. Could do with a bit of a makeover. That said, the chef appeared to have a good sanitary practices. They even provide hand cleaner gel bottles on the bar for the guests. By the way, I am writing this review the next morning. So no ill effects of the cuisine :)

This is a little hole in the wall place that serves us some really damn good ceviche. The combo plate is the best choice as you can try the fried fish and seafood rice as well, can even share between two people if you’re not too hungry. Highly recommend!

This place has been featured on Netflix Street food show. Not sure if this is good for the business. Yes much busier but all tourist and they have scared off the local customers. It's a bit of a dive out of the way in Lima and only seats like 8-10 people so go early. You order as you wait in line. The place opens at 12 pm and closes early like 3 ish. You can walk from Miraflores in about 15-20 min. Just look for all the Gringos waiting in line. Everyone orders the combo dish with has a bit of calimari, seafood paellas (fried rice) and some ceviche (fish/squid potato). Big volume and is good for maybe 1 for 2 to share or 1 if you are hungry. The price is very reasonable at 30 Sol but seems to keep going up by 5 sol as it gets more and more popular. Initially 20 then 25 and not 30 but still cheap. Elsewhere you would pay like 30 to 45 for the same. The owner is very nice and reserved but is alway diligently scrubbing and washing his hand. Go enjoy this gem but you will come out smelling like oil.

We originally saw this place on a Netflix documentary about various food restaurants across the world, and when we visited Lima we had to try it. Al Toke Pez did NOT disappoint. We tried pretty much everything on the menu and it was all insanely good. Peru didn't have much spicy food, but the sauces were refreshingly spicy and hot, and we are so happy we went. Would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.

Delicious food and totally worth the wait. We had to wait for 45-60 minutes to enter as there are only 9 chairs in this tiny “restaurant” but the food was really good. We are a family of 3 and we all ordered the Combination, Ceviche mixto, breaded calamari, and seafood rice. Prices are very good, not expensive are all, less than $40 for three people (120 soles).

Get there early as the line backs up quickly. They only seat 8 at full capacity, but service is quick. On our visit they only served 3 dishes on one plate. A fried fish which was very good and the weakest of the 3, and I say that with a great deal of respect. It was however upstaged by the red pepper ceviche and the beyond amazing, earthy, seafood laden, arroz de mariscos. The only beverage served is chicha morada which is purple from the corn it's made with but is sweet and refreshing with little actual corn flavor. Service was great and watching the kitchen work is free entertainment. I was close enough to feel the heat from the wok and even catch a stray spray of hot oil, felt like catching a foul ball at baseball and I held it in equal regards. Extremely budget friendly and a must visit in my opinion.

Eating at Chef Yoshi's place made me extremely happy. Happy to enjoy the food, happy about the place and the smile on the face of the chef. We arrived at 11:40 am and were the first ones to enter the restaurant. The price is right and even if some reviewers talk about better places not having to wait, I disagree. I just hope Chef Yoshi does even better. He can surely add five or six seats more in a larger place without losing his essence. I have no doubt he would still have a queue.

Great food, amazing buzz, very nice people. This little place in between Mercado 1 and 2 really deserves to be as popular as it is. It’s a great experience to try authentic Peruvian food expertly prepared Toshi and his team. There may be a queue sometimes, but it definitely is worth it.

Well I'll say first of all make sure you check the hours and days it's open. That messed me up last week. But today? We made it. We waited in line about 30 minutes and I would do it all over again. Completely worth the wait. The food was AMAZING, especially the ceviche. We got the combination plates which are shrimp fried rice, calamari and ceviche. The food comes to you fast, the place is small but the food is so so soooo good. Also, price is right. A definite "must visit" in Lima.

Learned about this seafood restaurant on NetFlix Documentary Street Food Latin America, and was thrilled to find the place and meet Chef Yoshi and his wonderful crew. The restaurant is very small - seats 10 - and there's always a line waiting to get in. But the wait is so worth it! The food is fantastic and Chef Yoshi and his crew are cheerful and welcoming and make the experience even better. Try the combination!

Delicious ceviche. Small place, seats 10 people. There was a small line outside. It was worth the 20 minute wait. We had ceviche w/fish & Combinado Ceviche Mixto Chicharron Mixto Y Arroz Con Mariscos (combo of rice with mixed seafood and fried fish)

Like many others, was inspired to visit this place after seeing it featured on Netflix. Had high expectations and it did not disappoint. Waited outside for seats to become available, but they took our order so as soon as we were seated, the food was ready to be served. Went for the combinacion and the portion size was HUGE for the price. It all tasted so fresh and went perfectly with their chicha morada. If you don't have the biggest of appetites, would certainly recommend sharing one of these.

Wow! This food is amazing! My husband and I ordered two combinación platters and the amount was incredible for the price! My husband finished his, but I had to take part of mine home. The sitting area is small, but gives you a feeling of eating at home. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The service is quick and the food is prepared to perfection! This is a must visit while in Lima!

I went to this place due to the rave reviews on here and I CLEARLY was not disappointed. The seating was limited and we had a short wait but who cares when the food is good. Most of the patrons were locals so that was a nice break from the tourist area. I ordered the combination plate which is easily shareable..it was the right combination of goodness 🤤
