This is one of many operated by Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio. It is primarily a lunch spot as they close around 5pm. The food is great and well done. It is focused on seafood but a few other options are available for order. We had grilled octopus, fried Chita fish and grilled lobster. All perfectly done. I generally do not... More

You can't come to Lima and not go to La Mar. It's an incredible experience !!! The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Certainly you will wait for a table but while you waiting you can drink a pisco sour or a Cusqueña beer. The dishes are delicious and the "Pez Diablo" is the best. The prices are reasonable and... We have been there several times and will always love it. The ambient is lively, super nicely decorated, they have witty and professional staff - and the food is delicious too, as are the drinks. This is one of the restaurant concepts that is well thought through. Everything works together. There is nothing we see that should be done differently.... More

La Mar was recommended to us by the chef at another great restaurant, and boy, are we glad we went! The place is quite unassuming from the outside and is only open from 12-5 because, apparently, no self-respecting Peruvian eats ceviche after 5 pm. It must be true, because the place was packed, Every dish we saw looked terrific, and... More

Our first meal in Peru. We got there as close as we could to closing on a Sunday afternoon (officially lunch, but for us dinner). And did we eat! We just had the waiter bring us whatever he wanted and we ate as if we hadn't eaten in a month. Yes, we paid for it but it was one of... More

I had ceviche here and there in Peru, but it never really impressed. Today I finally got some ceviche that sang in my mouth. I tried the ceviche tasting platter with the catch of the day, mixed seafood and tuna seaweed avocado with honey and tamarind. The catch of the day was average and the seafood mix was a little... After a morning of touring we stopped for a relaxing lunch. We began with Chilcanos while waiting for a table which was ready rather quickly. The wood-fired seafood rice was rich and plentiful. The waitstaff were courteous and friendly, and spoke English.

La Mar staff is attentive and friendly, the menu is varied and our choices where all fresh and flavorfull. The trio seafood appetizer and the Eco are noteworthy. The music and atmosphere are enjoyable, truly south american. Good value even if higher prices.

We were told La Mar was world famous and with skepticism we decided to give it a try. Without a doubt the best ceviche I've ever had! We had the sampler, los 3 clásicos, Pesca del día, mixto, nikei for 79 soles. Each one has a unique flavour with melt in your mouth seafood. The setting is relaxed and the... More
